  1. Looking great Chris. Progress is wonderful on this work of art. I’m trying to use some of your methods on my 1/16 FED build just not quite as detailed as yours.
  2. Finally got some bench time in....cleaning up the chassis and adding some new pieces to match the original.
  3. Beautifully done! Working on saving a glue bomb myself.
  4. Sorry everyone, haven’t had much workbench time lately. Welcomed a new granddaughter (that makes 3) and been traveling to see them all. Should get back next week with some updates. Have decided on duplicateing “The Royal Canadian” AA/FD with a steel 392 instead of the Donovan. Will still use the Aurora engines with some minor mods.
  5. Starting a new build from a glue bomb chassis and parts box. Decided to go with a Donovan 417 instead of a 392 iron block or 426. Will be fun.
  6. John, this is absolutely fantastic! The detail is great, the execution is wonderful, and the final product is nothing more than sensational. Where did you get the scoop for this? It would be perfect for a AA/GD I’m starting to gather parts for.
  7. Outstanding Chris!!! Love the way it's all coming together and the exquisite detail.
  8. Has anyone tried/used this type of putty and what were your results? I found it at a HS in northern Virginia recently and thought I'd give it a try.
  9. Thanx everyone for your help. I'll give it a try.
  10. Tom, John, Thanx for the help. I'm really looking for wire wheels for a FED, Comp resins had the 12 spoke which I'll be using for a dual engine FED.
  11. I'm looking at replacing the Revell 1/16 FED dragster wheels with something more realistic but don't know of anyone that carries them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, any word on whether Micro-Nitro products will be available anymore? Thanx.
  12. Marlowe, freaking awesome!!!!!!
  13. Chris, nice job on those dzus fasteners. What did you use to secure them?
  14. Chris, this is just an awesome build! I'm using your build as an inspiration for my Shottgun Express dual engine AA/GD that I'm working on. Haven't figured out pictures yet but soon will. Question, with the knob for the fire bottle installed, will the butterfly wheel clear it?
  15. Chris......Thanx for the tips. To be honest I've been following your Army build since the beginning and will soon have time to test myself although not quite as detailed as you have. That Vega is killer. The MJ engines are the best. Have a 392 (Beebe & Mulligan), SOHC (not sure for what yet) and the 2 BBC for the Shottgun Express AA/GD. It's going to be fun. Jesse.....Thanx for your help. I picked up some Westley's at O'Reilly's yesterday and will see how it works. George.....I ordered mine through Ted's Modeling Marketplace. Great pictures that Jesse posted of his work.
  16. Many Thanx for all your comments and your help. My plan is to build a dual engine BBC AA/GD from my younger days called the Shottgun Express out of NY. I'll be using a modified CA Charger FED body with some aftermarket products. Haven't decided on everything yet. Need to figure out how to post pictures but that's not a big issue.
  17. I've never worked with resin aftermarket parts yet and was wondering what type of prep should I do before painting? I've got 2 BBC (1/16) that I want to do a twin FED with and want to make sure I do it right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx
  18. I am planning and buying parts for a 1/16th scale dragster project that would use one of Mark Johnson's BBC engines but haven't worked with them before. How should I prep the engine before I prime and paint it? Are there any steps I should take? I appreciate any and all comments since I'm trying to expand my skills. Thanx.
  19. Just ordered 3 of them from Omni. Should be her Thursday. Will report on them next weekend.
  20. Any update on a date yet? Haven't seen anything on the usual sites about availability.
  21. Scott, Try the "Rodders Journal" Issue #20. They did a cover car feature on his Willys gasser. Let me know, I may still have the issue.
  22. Does anyone know if someone makes decals for the Bill Leavitt "Quickie Too" Mustang F/C?
  23. Art, Enough can't be said about the effort and dedication you, Dave, Jim and Mongoose, have done to get this going on the right path. We (us modelers) will be in your debt for a long time to come. With the increase in aftermarket items the skies the limits as to what we can do. Another name to add to the list is Chuck Boerner who does some outstanding decals for 1/16th. Can't wait to get my hands on a couple/4 of them. More to come??? WAY TO GO!!!!!! Dragalley
  24. Chris, Been away for awhile on business and will get back on it soon. Yes, 1/16th scale. Was originally going to do the early 392 version, but decided to do the 426 from the 71 Indy 'burndown". Will take pictures shortly and post them under a separate topic. Dragalley
  25. Currently working on a Steve Carbone build-up using Chuck's great decals. Always good to see other techniques/tricks on making it better. Between your effort and Chris's fantastic Army F/C build-up, will have plenty of inspriration to make mine better. Dragalley
