  2. I am simply amazed at the level of craftsmanship of this build. Even though it is 1/8th scale, it is truly a work of art. Simply amazing and I can't wait to see the finished model. One question though. Are the body panels going to be aluminum or carbon fiber? Chris.
  3. I recently read some news that some of you might find interesting. One of the legends of drag racing is returning to the sport and will be driving an A.D.R.L. Pro/Extreme car. The car will be a 2009 Cadillac CTS powered by a fuel injected HEMI (running on 95% nitro) with a direct drive tranny. The car is being built as I write this but it should be one wild ride. Looks like Wayne and I have to do a 1:25th scale CTS once we have the photos of the car. Oh yeah, the name of the drag-racing legend is none other than Gene Snow. What you want to bet it will be either metal-flake green or red with Rambunctious in gold lettering? Chris.
  4. I haven't gotten around to designing the centrifugal casting machine because I got too busy filling orders (this is not a bad thing). Not to mention that my family and I are moving tomorrow to my mother's home in Weaverville, NC. She is 96, blind, and basically confined to a wheelchair. I still plan to design and build the machine described in this thread but it is going to be at least another month or so before I can do so. I have to make some significant modifications to my mother's garage and get the shop set up again. I will be sure to send plans to each of you that want them. BTW....I have seen RotoCasting and I personally don't like it. You still have to pour the resin (or whatever) into the mold and I don't think that you can get rid of the air-bubbles as easily as you can with pressure and centrifugal casting. Chris.

I'm going to take the present '55 Chevy out of production fairly soon and start working on a very radical design to replace it. Same goes for the '53 Vette. I am also going to do a kit fairly soon that will let the modeler choose if he wants a three, four, or five speed Lenco transmission. Chris.

Yeah, I know it isn't about cars but military modellers are even crazier than us when it comes to accuracy and detail.   9. Irender, do you live in the Charlotte area? If so, you are more than welcome to visit my resin casting shop any time you want. I live on Hipp Rd. As far as Charles Carpenter goes, I have the same attitude towards the man as you. When I started casting resin I visited his shop on several occassions and took about as many photos of his '55 Chevy (the one he just sold). I don't know if any of the other members of this forum have met Charles but he is the most cordial person you will ever meet. He will go out of his way to show you what is what on one of these complicated Pro/Mods. I can't wait to visit his shop and see the new '55. As for you build of his Pro/Sportsman car. That is by far one of the best I've ever seen. Would love to include those photos on our website "Outlaw Gallery". Drop me a line at resinslinger@msn.com if you are interested.   12. Len, I got your order and please don't be worried. However, I have to let you know that I just got out of the hospital this past Tuesday. It seems that a couple of weeks ago I had several mild heart attacks and didn't even realize it. On Monday of this week I had to undergo a heart-cath so that the cardiologists could do angio-plasty (opening any blocked cardiac arteries with a balloon) and then place stints (metal sleeves) to keep those arteries open. So, if you are wondering why I haven't contacted you, now you know. Give me a few more days to get back on my feet and I'll have your order in the mail to you. Later. CB
  13. Good afternoon. I need some input from those of you that build 1:25th scale versions of today's Pro/Mods. In the "Resin" section of this forum I stated that I was busy designing several items that will update the Ross Gibson "Thumper" and "Sonny Leonard" engine kits. These include parts like a camshaft belt drive, crank-trigger ignition, low profile billet distributor, harmonic balancer, vacuum pump, dry-sump oil pump, sheet-metal intake manifold, sheet-metal dry-sump oil pan, and sheet-metal valve covers. I've been thinking that I could do similar parts for the engines found in the Revell Pro/Sportsman '55 and '57 kits. Would any of you be interested in such items?

  16. A Shore Hardness of D65 is fairly stiff but not as stiff as I like it. I like resins with a D80 or higher Pot life of 2-1/2 minutes is okay but you can extend the pot life by placing Part "B" in the fridge for about 5 hours. The chilled Part "B" will give you an extra 30 to 60 seconds of pot-life. BTW...pot-life begins the minute you mix the two parts and when they start to "kick-off". Demold time is a bit too high for me. White is fine color A CPS of 60 is about right. Water has a CPS of 1 and Chocolate Syrup has a CPS of 25,000. Now I can just see the questions about bubbles coming any time...right Marc?
  17. Don, I seem to remember that Bare-Metal Foil had some casting products but I've never used them. As Marc said though, everyone has their TCW. Me, I use Alumilite products exclusively. The resins are 1:1 by weight or volume but most of the RTVs are 10:1, but nothing that can't be handled even by a beginner. Also as Marc said, you would need a good postal scale that measures in both pounds/ounce and kg/g. I got mine from Office Depot for about $30.00 (actually on my second one, first one was ruined by spilled resin). Also for those resin casters that are trying to find good mixing cups. If you go to SAMS CLUB or COSTCO you can pick up small condiment cups by the case (500 per case) for around $6.00 and clear cocktail cups (250 per package) for about $10.00. Great for mixing resin and small amounts of RTV. Chris.
  18. These items and some others are being done as part of a line of update items for Ross Gibson's "Thumper" P/M engine kit (will also work with the Sonny Leonard kit). The nitrous system design drawings are all finished and I've started on some of the masters. I will probably resume work on those when I have gotten further along with the "Thumper" parts and some other secret projects. CB

  20. Good morning all. Here are a couple photos of the Pro Modified 1970 Dodge Daytona body that Wayne Stevens Jr. has been working on and will be produced by Top End Miniatures. All that is left to do is the rear wing. It should be available by the end of next month. Chris.
  21. Nope, scale 43" from center-line of front spindle to front of car which is the legal limit for an IHRA Pro/Mod, although this car ran in the ADRL series. CB

Good morning again, I thought you would like to see some reference photos of a real P/M BBC nitrous oxide engine which are being used to design ultra detailed parts for Ross Gibson's "Thumper" engine kit (with his permission of course). These photos were taken at Charles Carpenter's shop (World's Fastest '55 Chevy) several years ago. Items that are being done for Ross' kit will include new valve covers, intake manifold, oil pan, water pump, crank trigger wheel, and a complete three stage fuel and nitrous oxide system (sans the fittings and lines). This update kit should be ready by the end of March. By the end of next month, we will be releasing a blower/injector hat detail kit that will include an Enderle barrel valve with separate linkage and check valves, blower manifold burst panel (two styles), blower starter drive bracket, injector hat spacer, and blower restraint plate/brackets. Also slated to be released next month will be a Waterman 'Lil' Bertha' style methanol fuel pump. TTFN....CB
  23. Hello All, My family and I just wanted to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Also, here is a body that will be available by the end of next month. This particular body was mastered by my good friend, Rick Gondeck Sr. It was designed from a car that competed at DragStock II in 2005. The body is ugly as sin but it is a cool ugly. It still needs a little clean-up before the mold is made. This is the real car. Chris.

  25. Don, Yes, a 10 gallon tank will definitely help you out in the number of full body molds you can do in one pour, especially that VERY COOL drag-boat you are going to produce. Same here with my shop. So many projects going on right now. One of the main reasons I decided to do the spinning thingy. I will send you a copy of the plans (if it works) when I have it built. Not much good for body molds, but very good for almost everything else. BTW....I'm sending you a personal email that you might want to read. Take care. Chris.
