Hi Keith.
Here's what I have.
Fellow member "Superbird McMonte", (Dominick Gerace) sent me a bunch of these 3-D printed grilles for the '68 Coronet.
I have quite a few of them, so if you're interested, I'll send you a couple.
Just a couple of things to consider.
The Coronet body will need some small alterations in the front for the head light buckets of the grill to fit.
Namely, the flat "grille mounting plate" behind the grille needs to be at least partially removed.
Another issue that Dominick and I discovered was that the vertical grille members are a little off.
By that I mean, that in a given space, there is a pair of vertical bars, and in the next there might only be one, and there's really no consistent pattern.
I don't know if this will be a real concern once the grille is painted black, but I've opted to use my original MPC grille with drilled out headlights, and I'll use a set of the buckets from one of Dominick's grilles.
Yes, I'm sure that this grille will work in the Charger as well, but some work to get it mounted will be required.
If anyone else is interested in Dominick's grilles, PM him directly.
I'm sure that he would be more than happy to help you out.
Steve
If you still have any of those 3D printed grills I’d be interested in one I’ve been wanting to make a 68 Super Bee

I decided to get my CMG Charger Body ready to be stripped of its interesting design but the glue on some of the parts don’t wanna budge I want a good safe way to remove it without breaking anything anyone got advice?

I bought a Revell '68 Charger yesterday just to use a 50% Michael's coupon. Thinking of doing it in dark blue as a "Then and Now" build to match with the MPC I built in 1968.
No one has any comments about my suggestion that the side sculpting is overdone on the Revell body? I guess I'm the only one who sees it that way, then.
I seen some mpc promo 68 rebuilders I looked into getting but I drained my kit fund for now which was a shame

My Landy Dart conversion. I started this right before the actual 1968 kit came out. My body was already done, so all I had to use were the grill and tail lights from the newer kit
Drilled a very small hole in the body. inserted and super glued aluminum tubing in from the backside.
Polished the exposed tubing then filled it with elmers glue and painted that with testors stop light red .
It looks SO much better then smooth decals , IMO
I can get better / closeups pics if needed
That’s a wonderful looking build it’s one of the plans I’ve got for building as many Chrysler drag teams as I can and as many cars as possible (my s&m collection is at around 10 cars so far)

This build looks amazing as it’s going normally I’m not a charger guy but the ratty chargers are just cool

If you can pop out he glass on your dad's Superbird, restore it or build a twin. Ruining his model is a mistake, leave it alone.
There’s no plans to do anything with his except clean it and try and find a way to repair the wing the second kit I’m building to replicate it is the open canvas

the biggest difference is the '68 has round side marker lights and the '69 has rectangle side lights. the hood may be different but that is to change.
The Marker lights is what we noticed whenever we unsealed the kit

Well sorry for the lack of updates on the new one I’ll kick it into gear soon and start working on it but I’ve got other builds I’m finishing

Hey guys,
had a little bit of time these days so tried to finish the rear end for the 68 GTX.
Still have to do the bracing details on the trunk lid.
Here some renderings of the progress. Like last time I will do a test print again for test fitting.
Any suggestions and comments will be much appreciated.
Thanks for looking.
Rico
They look great

The Monogram '70 GTX and Superbird are a bit chunky (tall) in the body. They look like they need to be sectioned an inch or two. It's less apparent in the Superbird than it is in the GTX.
I’ve got a few monogram GTX kits I’ll need to check them and a Johan body while on the next hunt

Oh yeah! Johan's bodies for the most part were always dead on accurate! Monogram's not so much. I've seen people on eBay try to pass off a Monogram Superbird as a Johan and the dead giveaway for me in a millisecond is the roofline. Monogram never got that quite right IMO (lifted right off their '70 Road Runner/GTX and the two ARE different), and I've even gone to lengths to contact them to let them know as much as someone who's not looking very closely can easily be fooled.
Monogram did get the nose of that car correct though as it's smooth like the 1:1, and not that "decal indentation" that Johan put on theirs. I have to wonder though if that was the original shape of the nose from Chrysler's blueprints, and Johan went with that only for Mopar to change up at the 11th hour.
Hmmm............
I’ll have to pay attention to things like that’s on my hunt

I’m not familiar enough with the differences to be able to spot them without the proper box

Yah, there was a hobby shop a couple towns over I'd drive up to every couple months or so. They had boo-coo JoHan reissues in the '80s/early '90s and I pretty much stocked up then. Didn't know at the time that that would be my lifetime stash. But I did manage to get Maverick and Comet pro stocks, AMX, '69 Road Runner, '70 Superbird (S&M), S&M '71 Cuda, SCRambler, Marlin, '70 Olds 4-4-2, '64 Dodge and Plymouth, Mustang funny car, and maybe a couple more I don't remember now. Have built some, hope to build 'em all sooner or later, so no begging, please. Wish I'd bought a few more.
Cheapest Johan kits I’ve ever gotten was 20$ on a factory sealed petty 64 still sealed 20$ on a Sox Cuda and 25 and 30 on mint petty 70 superbirds

I just bought a spotless Johan 1970 GTX builder in the past 6 months for $85 delivered and darn glad I got it. It was the last one of the Johan Mopar 5 I needed. The Monogram car sticks out like a sore thumb when the rest of your shelf is all 1.25th scale
Ive picked up original issue Superbird, 69 Roadrunner and 70 Road Runner in recent years and none were over maybe $40-50 range. My 69 GTX on the other hand ,,,hurt the toy fund pretty good
If I would’ve made a move on some recent ones I’ve seen my toy fund would be completley gone

I recently finished a Revell '70 Road Runner and have no desire to find a JoHan '70 GTX or spend that kind of money for it either. Of course I understand that some people would like that GTX in their collection.
I’m just a 1/25 kind of guy but for the prices some of these guys want I could almost go without it
-
My only true “Grail” kit I’m on the search for is the Johan 70 GTX last one I seen on eBay was 400$ it’s got me almost giving up hope of finding one
-
Anyway throwing this back onto topic we thought a bit and we wanted to know would it be cooler to replicate the build and do a HEMI or would it be cooler for a 440 6
-
I had a good trade here recently with Bill (gtx6970) he was just an all around great guy
-
And of course the 70 GTX and Roadrunner were only issued once and if you can find them they’ll cost you a chunk of change
