  1. Had this kit in the stack long enough. No decision on color or anything else. I generally build them box stock, and Im sure this one will follow along mindlessly. I already prepped the body and critical parts. there was a few defective marks in the passenger side door panel. I also scraped and sanded off the copy right and made in china marks underneath. first time I ever did that, even though im not building to enter any contests.
  2. thankyou Carl
  3. thanks Gareth. ?
  4. Im calling it done and stopping before something screws up. lol....
  5. goin along pretty smooth. I guess since I recently built the same model, I have no difficulty repeating it even a little better than the first one. a few small details and she's ready for delivery.
  6. more progress..
  7. my daughter gave me G.L. #1 for xmas last thinking I was going to build it like the movie car. I didnt know that and built it differently. when I found out she loved the grease movie and has the record album and other memorabilia ,I went to H.L. and started on the movie version to give it her for her birthday this month. following pics are of the progress.
  8. Watch out around next easter, some kid might try to take a bite out of it. lol. looks good so far !!!
  9. This is about my 10th build in the past 2 years. 7 of them I was fairly happy with. This one ,well I cant write down all the problems I ran into, but It seemed to fight me all the way. after my initial knee jerk reaction on how bad it is, I realize I have too many kits in the que waiting to be built. I really enjoy doing this, plus I now have all the tools and supplies to work with. thanks for your positive comments. This forum and the builders that post here are amazing and Im glad to be here. kudos to one and all. (Im not this corny in person. lol)
  10. You're very kind. I appreciate your encouragement.
  11. You're right. I messed that up.
  12. Thanks for the kind words. maybe you're right. all I know is when I watch the scale modeler on you tube paint and assemble a kit, looks effortless ,and comes out like a factory job, mine come up far short and I am highly disappointed. I am real close to moving on to a new hobby.
  13. Great color !!
  14. this one just didnt finish up as well as it started out. I might go back and smooth things out someday, but for right now Im done with it. Im also done with AMT kits. at least till I get more experience dealing with their way of doing things. stuff just doesnt fit right, and I find out about it too late in the game. talk about frustrating!! Im too old for this sh!t...
  15. looks great
  16. That's definitely an improvement over the stock version...
  17. thats funny. thanks for making me laugh this morning....
  18. I didnt like the car all that much when I started it, but it's starting to look pretty snappy after all the work. Good luck with yours, and be sure to take your time for best results. ?
  19. If you didnt know much about BMF before doing this car, you could be close to advanced after your done with it. next stop will be in finished cars.
  20. The photos you've all been waiting for !!! lol. just kidding. however, this is the first paint job I've done that is my personal best. even though I had to strip and repaint the hood 4 times before it finally became satisfactory, overall I am very pleased with the result. I used a product called Speedo Kote 2k clear. next up is bmf and then final assy. Again, I thank you all for your comments and encouragement...
  21. you pulled it off real well. love those mags !!

    nice work Jim...
  23. 2 more with hood this time and better lighting that almost shows how good the paint looks in person..
  24. Im not ready to pull the tape to show the cream white color underneath, but I am ready to say Ive been doing this all wrong for awhile now. The new color I chose is a bottle Ive had for a long time now and it was going to go on a 68 mustang. getting it was a chore. It is called Bullitt green from gravity colors usa. I still have 1/2 bottle left and one full bottle from Matte for his poor handling of my order. However what I meant about doing it all wrong, is using rustoleum or duplicolor rattle cans. air brushing is definately the way to go. Im not sure of other brands, but this gravity stuff flowed out and on the car so smoothly and effortlessly I couldnt believe it. Also, it's the first time I used my Paasche H air brush. I had been using an Iwatta double action, and that was pretty much harder to get used to than the one touch Paasche. as soon as it dries, I will pull the tape and apply a glossy clear coat which will put me in to final assy. I appreciate all you fellow modelers for your comments and encourgement.
