Seems like I did cut the paper very close to the letters and positioned them carefully on the tires. Like I said, a real pain.

Are they the transfer type? It's been so long, I can't remember. They are a pain.

They are fiddly and a pain in the drain.

Looks great! It's a good kit to pick the details out. I built one years ago and have one in my stash.

Got a little progress to share. Made the header mod out of aluminum tubing after cutting off the upswept ends to match the reference photos. Dug around in my watch parts and used winding crowns for the gas tank caps. Messed around with some stainless wire for throttle linkage. Just sat the body on for giggles. Got some Mod Podge to fix the glass in place. That's next.

I recall a lot of builders like Chopper made tails out of red toothbrushes. They plugged, shaped, and polished them.

Cool! I wish my Dad built models. All he knew was they kept me quiet and they knew where I was.

I bought the Christy fire engine at the same time. Never have started it though.

Very cool! Clean build! I built one a number of years back. It was a nice change of pace. Did you split your own wood for the tender, like I did? Mine did quite well at area shows.

Oh, A.J., i see the General 4.4.0 in your cabinet. have some pictures more please?
It was a cool build. I'd have to remove everything on the bottom shelf to get it out. It won a few awards in its day. The tender is full of wood I split.

By the looks of the headers on the reference pic, I need to do away with the upswept header ends. I'll get those done and post some new pics. Been finishing up camping for the year, and haven't been in the model shop much.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a good time.

It's always fun to see the youngsters models.

There isn't 6 kits on the shelf at our store.

You bet there was no "time out" chair. Sitting was the last thing on your mind. An occasional model, or tube of bb's was earned. We had a huge garden we tended, and came before any messing around. I can say now, I'm sure glad I grew up when I did. My boys sure are well rounded, hard working young men. They still come to visit us often, so I guess we weren't too hard on them.

Lol! It is in the backyard somewhere. It and the rear wing fell off when I was going to take pics, like I said in the first post.
