1976 Kenworth Aerodyne COE
J.B. Customs replied to J.B. Customs's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Stuck at home last night in the first snowstorm of the year so I worked a little bit on the frame this is the first time building the Aerodyne kit everything went together smoothly hardly any flashing on the parts really like the rear suspension. I am trying to keep this build simple as possible very little modifications besides shortening the frame rails and swapping the motor -

Well I took an 1” out of the frame rails witch if my calculations are correct this should give this build a 216” wheel base (center of front axle to the center of the rear tandems) I am thinking I should have taken out another 1/2” will see how it goes -
Cab fresh out of paint didn’t turn out to bad a couple of spots that will need touching up but all in all I think I like it well enough to go ahead and start this build right off the bat I can see shorting the frame and swapping out the Detroit with the auto stick for a Cummins with a manual shift. Just brainstorming for now

I seen this car at are local used car dealership I had never seen a Falcon Delivery before it was so Cool so when I found a resin body at a model car show I knew I had to try to replicate it.

Well I don’t consider myself a higher grade builder just a guy with a lot of patience, I used some leftover fire hose from an ALF pumper kit for the mud guard around the fenders. I learned a lot from tips from Charles and Greg when I built the “63” ford pumper -
My dad bought this 1967 Freightliner in 1969 it came with a 318 Detroit Diesel he drove for Superior Iron and Metal Company of Fort Wayne(witch is now known as OMNISOURCE CORP.)when it was time for a rebuild he purchased a new in the crate 350 Cummins from Cummins of Fort Wayne, Indiana he mated it with a 13 speed transmission and changed the rear ends it would run 100mph until he got a speeding ticket for doing 90mph. The 13 speed was changed back to a 10 speed transmission and different rear end gears it became a puller not a runner while other trucks were grabbing gears going up the hills the old man cruzed at 65mph in 10th gear but they always sailed by us going down hill. I started building this truck back in November using the AMT Freightliner kit I used most of the original kits parts besides the motor and air cleaner, stacks, and rear rims and tires the biggest modifications were made to the cab I used testors green & gold metallic, flat white, and rustoleum tan I was around 8 years old when he purchased this truck I could only find one picture of this truck the rest is what I could remember I hope that I done it justice

What would a Super Hero drive? This is a basic box build except for the tires & rims it took a lot not to hack a opening in the hood and drop a blown motor in and some side pipes. This was my grandson’s idea and car pick

Not a replica build. This started out as a simple build classic paint job, foiled trim work, basic motor swap. The engine swap ran into difficulties leading to chassis modifications also loosing the AC unit off the fire wall and with the blown 572 engine the interior had to be beefed up roll bar, fire extinguisher system, tach, 3 point harness, and a lightning rod shifter setup. The body was another problem I ended up stripping the paint sanding off the body trim around the wheel wells and along the rockers and drilling out the door handles, and changing colors and blacking out the chrome and the tires and rims were a on going battle(couldn’t make up my mind) this build was quite a challenge not to mention my first time detailing an engine
