  4. That paint work turned out spectacularly! All of the little effects you added really made the designs pop! The stance on this is too cool too! 70s corvettes aren’t among my favourite corvettes… but most of them don’t look like this one! Really good looking build!
  5. Some progress has been made on the mustang , unfortunately due to camera related issues I was not able to document some of the progress. I started to build an enclosure for a rear mounted radiator setup (I’m really working to take weight off of the front wheels) with some strong puller fans to keep the car nice and cool! there will be a small remainder of a rear window above the radiator area to retain some rear window visibility, I have an interesting idea on how I’ll use mirrors to my advantage to mitigate blind spots. Where the camera left off is, the exhaust for an f1 car doesn’t lend itself well to a car with fenders. So some surgery was required… mr. Riggins went down to the yard and picked up a set of aftermarket headers from an old rusty super stock dart, (the spacing between cylinders worked out pretty darn close to perfect, the Revell dart kit truly is one of my favourite kits to pick parts from!! (Builds nice too though!)) broke out the welding machine, and grafted those pipes to the exhaust flanges from the f1 headers. Now we have a free flowing set of headers that will clear the steering shaft and flow like a race car should! Pics for proof later 😉
  6. Nice graft on the roof! Good to see she’s back on track ! I hâd a similar frustration with an old model (that I was really looking forward to building, the picture I have of it isn’t the best but 2 pillars split, the trunk split, and it split about a quarter of the length of the quarter panel… such are the frustrations of brittle old styrene) fortunately that one was also saveable! cheers
  7. shame that the Revell bus won’t do the job, I like that they included opening doors with some of those earlier kits, but I too have dealt with the frustration of dealing with their execution of the feature! that hasegawa kit does look miles better! the picture isn’t one of my builds, but it highlights the detail of the kit well! I look forward to seeing progress when the kit arrives!

  10. Here goes run number two for this build. Here’s to sticking to it and getting the build done this time around! A brief rundown of the car: 1967 Mustang (wide body kit inspired by vintage road racing, slammed down to the ground… sparks may fly!, a nice enough interior to make you forget you’re riding in a purpose built race car) Cosworth DFV Motor (over TEN THOUSAND RPM screaming down the highway!, tuned for reliability, not much less than 500 horsepower, set waaay back and low in the engine bay for weight dist. And a low low centre of gravity, there’s a reason that these had their place in f1 for decades!) An A-Daptor kit to fit the motor to a nascar Top Loader transmission (the small block bell housing should allow for a slightly larger than original clutch to compensate for the added car weight over a f1 chassis, nascar engines have been known to rev up to 8 or 9 k… I’m sure with the right tricks of the trade… this transmission will be up for the task! A one off fully independent suspension (Scca inspired wiremag wheels, 9 inch diff with a locker, 4 wheel disc brakes, wide track, racing spring setup… she handles) I had originally intended to retain the stock fuel tank, but as most do… it had some rust issues and I just wasn’t satisfied with the way it’s moulded in. So out went the old and in went a new 1974 spec 22 Gallon NASCAR Fuel Cell! as an added benefit, the fuel tank clears the ground by a much greater distance! Good Luck Everybody! Judging by the lineup so far, this is gonna be a good race 😉

  12. Thanks! Definitely more to come soon. I feel it’s a good combination at my interest in muscle cars, road racing, f1 ingenuity, with a touch of JDM flare! The cannonball run was a movie about a cross country race, and each year the members of this forum dedicate a build thread (in community builds section) to reenact/re-envision the race with their custom builds. The new start of the build/guidelines for the year are posted late December, shortly after polling and judging for the best in show for the current year is finished. It’s a cool concept, you should check it out… and consider entering a build of your own! Thanks for checking out my build!
  13. This build has been a long time coming, it was originally intended for the 2024 Cannonball Run…. But my schedule didn’t line up with the due date for the project (the direction that the build went ended up breaking most of the rules for this years contest anyways) im hoping it will be eligible for the 2025 run, as I’d consider the build less than 50% completed. But the build goes on! I wanted to venture into new territory with this build, ie: complete custom wide body kit. I was originally going to put a turbo on and replicate a dfx motor, but I’ve decided that I really like the way that Texas 3D made the intake trumpets and decided to go naturally aspirated on this motor. the suspension has been fully modernized so as to match the performance of the racing motor that I’ve used. The front suspension belonged to a Toyota supra, and has been sectioned to fit the mustang chassis. The rear suspension is a complete one off, mixing components from several different cars in order to provide this car with independent rear suspension and a differential strong enough to handle the power from the Cosworth motor. here it is as it stands, I’m just going to keep keeping on with the build because I’m very excited to see what it’ll become! Without Further Adue, here it is as it stands.
  14. Love it! It’s funny, I’d never noticed a likeness between mercs and these, but you’ve definitely captured that chopped top, slammed down aesthetic! I’ll be watching this one! ever thought about putting a set of these on it?
