  1. Thanks everyone for the welcome!
  2. That looks great, and the color pops. I'm actually looking to do a car with a burnt orange color and wondering if you used any primer or any coats of paint under the metallic orange, and what that might have been?
  3. Hi all, another newbie to the board but not a newbie to scale models, tho like many it's been years since I've done anything. It's quite different than the last time I built anything. Right now I'm working on a Tamiya 1966 VW Beetle to try to recreate my Mom's first car, a 1965 Beetle. There are some differences, like her VW had a sunroof, and the model doesn't. Have seen some folks use a 3D print out of a sun roof option. Painting has been a not so fun experience. Doing everything by hand or spray cans, and I have a lot to learn I realize. Whether it's paint getting under tape while spraying or not covering as well, lots of touch ups and re-dos. Tried to make the shocks look a little more interesting using springs from old computers. Had to go back and sand off injection? lines I didn't notice before, then re-do the primer on the body. Saw someone used baby wipes as carpet, and since I had some laying around, thought I'd try it. Turned out...ok, tho it presented problems I didn't anticipate like fitting parts on top of it. Had to cut some of it away. I've attached a few photos of my slow going progress. Next model I want to do is my Dad's first new car he ever bought, a 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I bought the Revell Olds 442 W30 kit. Not exactly the same, so that will take some modifications, but will probably make that a separate post with more questions from the board. Anyway, excited to get back in to it, taking the failures as a challenge rather than defeat and remember it's often the journey not the destination in this hobby.
