  1. I didn't start building until my early teens, and comparing the work that I did on them to this one is no comparison. Even the ones that I was doing in my later teens were struggling with this standard. Excellent work Christian, keep it up. I'm sure you'll be teaching a lot of us (well me at the very least) some tricks to your builds real soon.

  2. That's a fairly large class of hot models. I only got one done this year and compared to yours, "it has a great personality".

I couldn't go past the sunoco inspired camaro. I like the look of the old school race cars, but with the modern twist to it, it was just excellent.

Well done on a great 2008, can't wait to see what 09 will bring.

  3. Thanks for your help on this so far. I'd say that it's the second Revell one. Cos it does have the space lab inside it and no booster rockets.

It was built with the wheels down like it would be after a mission. Although, most if not all are now missing. I vaguely remember seeing one the last time I got it off the cupboard.

I did see the ninfinger site, but it was only a quick look and couldn't see a forum like this from my quick looks around the net so far.

If anyone knows of such a site, it'd be great. Cos would like to get some help with this like I have had on this site for cars since joining here.

  4. Not a big fan of the colour personally, but looks pretty schmick though. Nice glass finish and the details are excellent.

I have one of these that I have been thinking about re-painting etc. I'm thinking now that it might have to make it back onto the bench.

Dagnam it, now I need a bigger bench.

  5. Hello ppl,

Is there anyone out there that dabbles over into the non-car realm that can help with my problem.

I have a model of the Space Shuttle Columbia that I would like to get parts for. I think it's 1:144 but not sure on that. I "inherited" it years ago and want to bring it back to it's former glory.

Is there anyone on this site that knows where I can get parts for this, or a link to a similar site as this one that might be able to help me with this.

Without measuring it and from memory, it's approx. 18 inches or 45 centimetres long.

I'm looking mainly for the wheels, but I think there are a couple other parts I may need on further inspection.

    Any help will be great.

  6. This car is more realistic than my daily driver and I'm sure that it's a lot faster than mine too!!!

The attention to detail on this thing is simply mind blowing.

I had not looked at this one because it was a funny car and not really interested in them that much (although I do have the Mongoose 57 Chev Funny car). I'm glad that I did now.

Time to quit rambling and get on with improving my skills. I think I may be this good given a couple more lifetimes to practice.

  7. Sweet looking ride you got there.

    The detailing is brilliant.

Where's the driver hiding in the brake light photo? Cos someone must have their foot on the brakes for them to be that bright.

  8. Excellent 58 you have there. Makes me wanna drag mine out and try to make it 25% as nice as this one. Probably as close as I'll get to it with my current skills.

Just add me to the list of fans of your builds. Gives a lot of us (or maybe it's just me) something to aim for.

  9. Nice looking Chevelle.

After seeing a few of these being built recently, I'm wishing I hadn't hacked the roof off and otherwise abused mine so many years ago. I hope to bring it back to life soon. Something half as nice as this, and I'll be a happy man.

  10. Thanks for the comments everyone.

The wheels are from an R32 Skyline kit that I'm not sure will ever be built up again, at least not with those wheels. The rest of it is OOB.

It's good to see the Chevy/Ford rivalry is as strong as I was hoping with my comment.

  11. That little Stang looks pretty good for being built by a Chevy fan! Now lets see a Chevelle or a Camaro, Or better yet an IMPALA.haha

Yeah, I'm a Chevy fan too.

Nice job on the Mustang. Keep up the good work.

    Ed

    Thanks for that Ed.

I currently have on the workbench a 55 Nomad, an early 80's (I think) El Camino, a Monza 2+2, a 1:12 57 convertible. I hope that that's enough Chev's to prove something of my allegiance. You need to start with something inferior both you work on a masterpiece. :)

I also have a 67 Chevelle somewhere in my collection that needs restoring and the LAPD Camaro to be going through some time soonish. Don't have a big collection of cars (yet) but most lean towards the bowtie side of things.

  12. Nice looking car you got there.

I must look into the foils etc. Currently use paint, and that doesn't always end up where it was supposed to go.

I'll have to do something similar with one of the many glue-bombs I'm trying to restore at the moment.

  13. I really am a Chevy Fan despite the car appearing here. I do like all sorts though.

Still got some detailing etc. to go, but that'll probably wait until a couple more get to this stage.

Hope the pics came out, first time trying to attach a picture to my post.

  14. Welcome aboard Captain.

Welcome to the forum and don't be afraid to ask questions. I personally won't be able to help much on that, as I've only just gotten back into the hobby as well, after about a 10-12 year "break", but a lot of ppl on here will be able to help you out.

I'll keep you in mind if I need any more help with the monza part I was after. I've had a bit of help with that and am hoping something will be finalised soon.

    Once again, welcome.

  15. That should not be too difficult. If you don't have any sheet styrene, get some! You could bring the piece you want to copy, to your hobby shop, to compare the thickness of the styrene. Then it's just a matter of copying the pieces. Make paper templates that you transfer to the styrene. Remember to reverse them for the other side. It's a square box shape basically, so just take your time, and you'll get it done. Why not post some pics of your work?!

Thanks for the tips. I've never scratchbuilt anything before. Well, not with any realism anyway. I'm taking pics as I go with my builds recently, but still waiting for one that I'm fully happy with before I post. I like the how they turn out to look at, but the camera seems to find all the flaws in the paint etc. As soon as I get some good pics, you will see them.
