  1. Hi Mark, Thank you, it's alright, I guess, I just see the defects from having my nose sticking to it for so long😄. I hope that you'll share your next build. I'll wait a little and now that I know.., I might (one day) build the Grand Sport 1965 Sebring (top white, bottom Mecom blue), but for now, my next big project is the Porsche 910 driven by Niki Lauda (kit Tamiya 1/18, that should be easier😊) but I need to order custom decals, probably from Indycals. I might make my own post on modelcarmag's forum on this one. Until next time, good continuation👋
  2. My Corvette Chassis 004 is finished, finally ! It is what it is. I have an other one, now that I know, I might give it an other try, one day. Congratulations again Mark on your beautiful build👍
  3. It's looking great, Mark👍
  4. Thank you Todd, I will try that on a small area, perhaps with a wet and hot Q-tip to soften.
  5. Hi Richard, The problem is not the orange that looks actually really good, it's the quality of the decals, (see the bubbles on that tiny trim on the roof?). I tried Microsol, it didn't do anything to the decal, I used Solvaset to get them to soften, but as they dried, they tried to go back flat, that's why it developed pockets of air. As for the color, I'll leave it as is, it's not perfect but to be honest, I want to be done with it, the fun is gone. Next one will be better...perhaps. Thank you and good continuation👋
  6. Thank you Mark. As I was saying to Todd, it was a headache to finally get the decals and, and well you see the result. There is also Patto's place in Australia that offers the same (ish) decals for a fraction of the price even with shipping. And as I also told Todd, It was a joke about dipping the kit in Holy water before the clear coat, to ward off evil spirits and end the curse. I'm not going to fight it, I'll finish it and it will be what it will be. It's for a group build with nice people and they'll be kind because they know that sometimes things don't work well. Here is the address from Patto's place in case you need something but his website is kind of a mess https://www.pattosplace.com/home.html 👋
  7. Thank you Todd, He's still producing decals, I got these a few months ago. The thing is that it was getting so long to get delivered; after 3 emails, more than a month later, I finally got the answer that he was going to mail them "soon", after a week, I cancelled the paypal transaction. I finally received the decals and sent him a check. Meanwhile, I ordered decals from Patto's place in Australia, I got the sheet very quickly, I didn't try them because the orange stripe is ..red, perhaps they are easier to use but it's not the same sheet as VRM. I'm not going to give up, I was joking when I said that I was going to dip it in Holy water, as in, to remove the curse.👋
  8. Well, Mark, here it is. With poor decals from VRM and paint too dark, to my point of view from MCW (Pelham blue). I think that this build is cursed ans I'm thinking about dipping the thing in holy water before applying the clear coat😂.
  9. Hi Mark, It looks beautiful, congratulations. Did you use the decals from VRM ? I'm making the chassis #4 car #3 Sebring. I was really disappointed with the decals, very stiff, ignoring microset, I had to use Solvaset to get a reaction, still they don't conform well to the slightest curve, it says "printed by Cartograph" and I have a doubt to be honest, kind of ruins months of work... Good continuation.
  10. Beautiful work and the color looks fantastic. I'm about to start this kit and I'm looking for the right paint. I tried Ts15 recommended by Tamiya, decanted and airbrushed on a spoon and, as I suspected, it's too dark, perhaps ok for the P34 that appears to be darker on photos. The problem is that there is so many options : AK real colors, Gravity, Cobra motor paints, Zero paints (I won't try that), ...etc. I'm tempted by Gravity (as I need other paints from them, and saving on shipping would be ok too) or Mr.Color, was one jar enough for everything ? And did you use a white primer ?
  11. Mark, You got the P.E. from model round-up, it looks nice and makes a big difference on the chassis. On my next one I will remove the saddle under the lower pulley (that has nothing to do there as a starter) and correct everything else to lower the engine. I'm also planning to use 1/16 eyelets for the trumpets (see photo attached, I put 2 of them on the fire-wall, it's about the needed size.). I also often use " Beadalon"crimp tubes (for jewelry) on my models as my engines tubing "connectors", way cheaper than modeling detail parts (From Joann craft stores and or Michaels, plenty of useful stuff in there). I just got your message, it took a long time (with the front) but I did everything to have a straight chassis and it's all good. The last thing I wanted was a car on 3 wheels. I will also try to find better tires, if not, it's alright, the next one will be better. One thing that surprise me is that you painted the chassis before gluing all the direction, A-arms and suspension (missing in the kit, by the way) stuff, it's not going to complicate the gluing of these things ?
  12. Hi Mark and everyone, I'm building the Corvette grand Sport by Accurate Miniatures (not easy), I really love what you did and I'm following the build. I downloaded (from Scalemates) the manual from Revell re-boxing, much clearer than the A.M. one... I have a question, you mentioned Historic Racing Miniatures, is Harold still in business ? I doubt it but, if yes, how do you order and is there a list of his products available ? Thank you.
  13. Hi Pierre, I'm building this exact Chassis #4 in 2025 and I never built a kit that hard in all my years of modeling. I'm facing the same exact problems, mostly, nothing fits. I got the decals from VRM and the Pelham blue from MCW. Plus I created problems by adding hinges to the bonnet that will, for sure interfere, with the radiator, but I will lower it and get it closer to the engine. I'm thinking about lowering the chassis too, as you did, but everything is so fragile on the chassis that, perhaps, I will just glue the wheels of center, I know, but I'm getting tired of it. I will maybe build an other one, later, knowing all the problems from my experience, your precious solutions and the ones from the (kind) members also. Good continuation.
