I got the 37 Chevy painted. Here are a few shots of it mocked up

I just started working on a new resin body from
“Drag City Casting†(Ed Fluck)
His new 37 Chevy with a chopped top. (included corrected and mounted rear fenders and matched hood) If you don’t have one of these you need to get one NOW! It is incredible.
I am doing a late 50’s style mild custom with mine. I am using 53 Corvette hubcaps.
I mounted the headlight buckets and the spots with brass wire.
I will be using HOK pagan gold. I think I am leaving the paint flat finish but, that may change later. It will be a curbside so I can get it low! I haven’t been this fired up about a model car in a few months!
beg, borrow,or steal to get one of these!

Sure! I was planning on stopping by on my way back from Hanover.......I need new kits! HaHa
-
That sure is one sweet Caddy Irv! Welcome back and can't wait to see more of your builds.
Did you ever get the El Camino done and on the road before the snow started flying? I sure loved that WIP and hope you have some pix to share!
Mike
It need exhaust and then ready to work out the bugs. Needs a few inter. things but, we can drive it
-
Welcome back, Irv!!..good to see you here....Hey when you get a chance, can you post that awesome purple '50 caddy?
If it's ok, I 'd like to add it to one of my albums I'm working on.....Regards,Jeff
Sure Jeff, All my outdoor shots the color turned blue. So here are a few of each

Finally I am back. I had to load a new browser to get back in. Plus I forgot my password! HaHa. Now if I could finally build something.........
-
Our friends from Kuhn Auto Glass installed our front and rear windows.
My brother drove it over and back with open headers! (he has all the fun)
Here Ed is rolling out the bead on the rear
front glass in
rear glass in
all the rear chrome installed
front chrome installed
ready for exhaust!

Great Job! I bought one also that was well done. I just cleaned it up and replaced some broken chrome and detail painted a few things. I left the decals on it as is.

Were chipping away at some of the smaller stuff. Finally got the dash completed and installed.
We had some trouble with the factory air stuff since they do not reproduce any of the needed parts. Had to repaint and repair duct hoses and center vents. We bought a repro radio with a remote control that is cool. Looks like a 69 GM radio only converted to digital plus it has a Ipod set up.
Door panels are ready and we have one installed with door handles.
still need to recover the seat but, we will do it later
Were getting there!
-
Lots of little things to do.
Been polishing all the stainless and alum. moldings
The door glass, wing windows, felts, rubber seals and chrome trim are now installed.
This is a factory air cond. car so it has tinted glass (69 Chevy's only air cars had tinted glass)
The tailgate molding is on. We just got the rear bed 4 corners back from the chrome plater and will be installed next.
All the air cond. parts are on and waiting on hoses and then ready to charge it up
I know it doesn't look like it but, the wireing is ready to install the dash. We also bought the repro accesory gauge package with the tac and other gauges which was a option on all 69 Chevelles. I will have photos of completed dash later
Getting ready to send out the car next month for windshield, rear glass, headliner and custom exhaust!

I use the "Lylewood" method. This kit just falls together. Here are a few shots of the inter. wood
-
I have one from PSF and it was very nice. Here are a few shots of it raw on the car
and in primer
and paint
I did not do much sanding to fit. I agree on some of their stuff but, I am very happy with this hood from them
-
I was just checking some frames to fit and I like Revells 66 Chevelle wagon the best. It will need some side trimming from the rear wheelwells on back but, looks close plus we can graf in the under hood stuff to make a nice updated engine compartment. The gas tank is wrong but, it will be wrong no matter which one we use. You just have to scratch build that part if you want. PLUS you will be able to drop in the BIG BLOCK! HaHa. The wagon should be easy still to find. Even if you wanted to use the AMT 69 Chevelle and stretch it. It will be harder to find and more $$ than the wagon
-
Here is our El Camino frame
and here you can see the gas tank (mounts on the body not the frame)
and what it looks like today
-
WOW, Were all mixed up (HaHa) What ever you do. including a frame, instructions for stretching a coupe frame. I am still interested in one.
-
I talked to MJ (another friend of Ed's) and he said that wagon was designed to use the coupe frame. So I guess some time in the past the wheelbase was modified to fit the frame from the Chevelle. So I guess the 69 or 70 chevelle from AMT will work. I am still interested in buying a 69 and a 70 from you when your ready. Sorry about questioning the frame! Irvin
-
Ed, lives 20 or so miles from me. Maybe I can see if he would cast a one pull off the frame of my el camino and send you one. I see no problem with people cutting the chevelle frame and adding 3/16" to it or I can check and see if we can do that and send you a master repaired frame to use and cast
-
I don't know where you get your facts evilone but, you clearly don't know what you are talking about. I have a real 69 El Camino that is on the rear end of a frame off resto and I have both AMT 69 org. model kits and they are correct just like the 1 to 1s are. I can't say what the 68 new tool is like but, like I said before I never liked a 68 so I did not check that one. It really doesn't matter as long as he tells us which one fits his resin and or stretches a coupe frame to fit and cast
-
OK here you go. I only have a built 69 Chevelle so I hope these will work.
Here is the mint box!
side by side
front of body
rear of body
front of frame
rear of bodys together
front length difference on bodys
another shot of both side by side
I hope this helps. If not let me know what kind of shots will. Thanks!

Yes I can take photos this weekend
-
see I got my way.......69 all the way HaHa. I am sitting here holding a Mint 69 AMT El Camino and I am measuring the wheelbase of the body from the front edge of the front wheel opening and measuring to the back of the rear opening it is
5-7/8" and the lenght of the frame is 7-3/8" from front tip to back. If you would like I can take some photos to show you. The frame from the 69 Chevelle should work if you lengthen it 3/16". If your wagon fits the Chevelle wheelbase as is, something is off on the body. If I measure a AMT 69 Chevelle the same way I measured the El Camino body wheelbase only measures 5-11/16" which is 3/16" different between the two. I can provide photos and any measurements you need if you like. I don't have a new AMT 68 El Camino so I can't check that but, I could get one. Irvin
-
I would be interested in a 70 and a 69. Never like the 68 front end. It looks like you used the AMT 70. I think the Revel snap kit of the 70 Chevelle looks the best of all the 70's made but, I am still interested in a AMT 70 wagon. Did you place a frame from the list of kits you provided under your master to check for sure? Thanks! keep us posted on your progress.

Man, what is that your 3rd 57 chevy this past 2 months? Love the rear bumper. Gotta get a few of those hoods too.
