I like the very slight weathering ,that's the way I always build mine. I think this is how you take a basic build and hit it out of the park. Do you have any chassis shots????

Pictures of the frame and interior will be put up later on this evening .

  2. Hey , Gang ! Thanks so much for the compliments , I greatly appreciate them !

Revell ' 49 Merc , built as a curbside ( I was all detailed out at the moment ) so I went in this direction . Paint is a custom mix of Testors enamels with a Red Russet Pearl X clear overlay . Dash and seat inserts , along with the side panels were shot with the exterior color to off set the white interior . The color was an experiment which I really love and plan to use on several future builds . You listening , Virgil ? Lol !

The taillights , side pipes , and hubcaps are the work of the immensely talented Bob Dudek ! I used the decals from the kit for the centers which just so happened to match the car's color , perfectly !

Had I painted this with the rear skirts in place , it would have been a full blown detailed build . I love the color and I'm still kicking myself for not going with the skirts in the first place ! Oh well !

Ron .... The only thing that I'm a Master of is Disaster itself ! Lmao !

As usual...Donn knocks the paint out of the park. I've seen Donn's work up close and personal...So I know its great!

Thank you , Brother D ! Mutual admiration society here , buddy ! Your work speaks for itself , loud and clear !

Moon , it's the ' 57 street machine kit . The model is green and white on the box with that god awful scoop on it . The kit is an excellent one to build , only drawback , no hard top ! Wheels are not as deep as the ones in the Revell kit but certainly fit the bill for a variety of builds . Thanks for the kudos !

  4. This was Beauty and the Beast , motor wise ! Beauty ? Having a 24" by 16" full color photo to follow . Beast ? Trying to stuff it all in with 1/25th scale parts !

Believe me , I scared the daylights out of the pups a few times with my bellering , cussin' , and fussin' ! Lmao ! A very nice kit to build , but I believe I enjoyed building the Revell ' 68 Charger more .

  5. Hi , gang ! Thank you for the compliments , they are greatly appreciated !

Revell kit , wheels are from the AMT Vette , intake manifold is from one of the Lindberg Dodge kits . Building the motor was rough , like stuffing 10 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag ! Used the carbs from a ' 66 Nova .

Color is Testors Competition Orange with Pearl X Bright Gold suspended in the clear coat overlay . I used pastel chalks to lightly weather the motor and frame and various metallizers throughout the build . Slixx decals finished it out . I have The Dragon Lady Dart well on it's way too !

My first paint job of 2013 is currently covered in Easy Off!

I'm going to watch TV the rest of the day.

New Years Eve was the same for me , it was an Anti Midas day . Everything I touched turned into the stuff that follows horses , not gold ! Lol '

I share your pain , brother ! Tomorrow is another day to do battle with good O'l Murphy .

It's not as crazy as you think.

Or that far off , for that matter ! Money for nothin' and your chicks for free is a line in a rock song , period ! Wanna play ? You're going to have to pay , sooner than later !

Online magazines , newspapers , etc , all exist and continue to grow at a rapid rate and they aren't free ! Nor should they be !

  8. The only color that I've had the clear yellow on was white . Yes , I know others have suffered with lighter colors doing the same thing , I haven't !

Difference being , I believe that my cleaning and waxing the models for the vending and show tables on a regular basis prevents this from occurring . Leave a 1:1 sit for a long period of time without cleaning the finish and watch what happens , regardless of what product it was painted with . It will dull out , fade , and yellow as time passes !

  9. Let's face the truth right here and now ! The man never stopped having issues . He is in a suspended state of childish adolescence , he needs to grow up !

Wait ! What's that you say ? He's passed 50 ? Well then , the rules state that if you're not grown up by the time you turn 50 , you simply don't have to !

Whew , Thank God we dodged that bullet , eh , Virgil ! We don't have to ever , ever grow up !

    Lmao !

Paging Mr. Yost, paging Mr. Yost...

Uh uh ! Mr Yost , nor his son Donn , use the word " yinz " . More than likely , you will hear , " ya'll " from me . Mr Yost , on the otherhand , will use nothing but grammatically correct English ! To this day , Mrs Yost will still box her children's ears for abusing the " Queen's English " !

One might think that age would have slowed her down by now ........ Ahhhh , No ! She still has a mean right hook ! Lmao !

  11. Non compatible products would be my guess ! Just a bit of advice , stick with name brand products and stay within their respective zones . Going to use Testors ? Use nothing but across the board . Tamiya ? Same situation ! This applies to any paint product . Some paints are just not compatible with models period !

You just learned a lesson with this paint job .... Cheaper is never better and it always comes back to bite you in the hindquarters ! I would suggest sticking with the hobby paints , they are produced specifically for models , thus avoiding the hassles that you just went through .

  12. Poppy Red was used on the Russ Davis Ford team cars . Matador Red , as I indicated, was used on all of the S&S Race Team cars .

The color mix that I indicated is an orange / red mix . Matador Red has a bit of a flip flop to it under certain light conditions . Examples of it can be found in Larry Davis' book , The Gasser Wars , which includes photos and accompanying informational text .

  13. Sorry , Danno !

I agree with your hypothesis , but protest your final diagnosis ! If said egg ( kit ) becomes a chicken ( model ) all well and good !

However if the chicken ( model ) is dropped and hits the deck , it becomes an omelet , thereby returning to it's original state ( egg ) albeit a broken one !

Now , go to your room and ponder on that one !

    Lmao !

  14. Back at ya , Virgil ! Working on different projects with you this year definitely made the high light reel of 2012 .

Having my work featured in several different publications , and writing my first article for Model Car Magazine were at the top of the list also .

Met a whole bunch of new friends in the hobby , 2 more beautiful grandkids , Callie and Pat graduated with honors from high school , won a silver medal for Senior Olympic Softball , and so much more !

Truly blessed this year , and I am ever so thankful for it ! And The Blonde ..... Never , ever , forget The Blonde !
