  3. Just finished this one today. Built it up as a curbside because I didn't really care for the motor the Revell Good Guys 1937 Ford Coupe came with. The kit was pretty lame. There were tons of cool parts but no real way to add them to the car. I am thinking at one time this kit was retooled and they left some odds and ends parts on the trees. Never the less, I tried some new weathering stuff and I tried some foil work (my first time foiling and I learned a lot). Take and look and let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

  4. Wow...nice work. It's amazing how nice this kit looks right out of the box. What color of blue did you use?

Thanks Flatout! I used Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Blue. Not a typical paint for this application but it worked out pretty well plus I had it just laying around the house.

  5. heres a really small update on the 32. Ive been stuck working graveyards and I dont spend a whole lot of time at the bench when I work like this so excuse the lack of updates.

    Thanks for looking...

Man, I love those Bomber seats!! Nice Touch!

  6. Hey Y'all! Its been a while since I last posted anything. I had to take some time off to move and work. Last week I finish another 32 Ford. I did a lot of experimenting! Chopped the top, "Z"ed the frame, build a nice looking flathead out of some spare parts. It was a BLAST. I really didn't like the kit I used. It was a reissue from the 70s and most of the plastic needed a lot of trimming and for the most part didn't fit right. There is not interior or glass int this car. I probably going to finish that at a later date, stilling thinking over some different ideas for that part of the model. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Here is the kit I used!

  7. I like it! What are you using for weathering? That is something I would like to learn. I recently added my first set of igniton wires and I can honestly say it makes a ton of difference!

    Keep up the good work.

    Rudy

Hey Rudy! I use pastels and chalk to make it looked weathered. Just make sure you use a spay fixing agent on it so the chalk doesn't rub off.

    Thanks for the positive comments.

  8. great start man. I have feeling this is gonna be one cool beat up old truck.

    Thanks Man!

Did some more work today. I added ignation wires and and radiator hoses. This is the first time I have every put these on my models. It was a challenge but it really made the motor look better. I also started weathering the cab. Let me know what you think about my color choice for this truck.

  9. Started my 3rd build yesterday. Its the Revell 41 Chevy Pickup. Looked over all the parts and everything looked OK. Lowered the front and rear end after building some lowering blocks, which was pretty easy. I am going to do this project as a beat up, old weathered hot rod. So far its been really fun because you don't have to worry about getting the paint perfect

Let me know what you think!

  10. Just finished my 48 Ford. Pretty much all the major parts on this model were warped but that didn't stop me. Its not perfert and because the warpping I was not able to put in the glass. IT JUST WOULDN'T FIT! :D

I saw this model as a challenge and did some new things like making my own custom headers which was a blast and I plan on doing that from now on. It gives it a personal touch and it gave me experience working with styrene. Hope you like and tell me what you think!

    Thanks,

    Michael

  11. There's a couple things you could try.............you could heat the frame under hot water to bend it back to shape. It sounds like you've already built it up so be very careful!

Also, if you've got a food dehydrator, turn the temp up to 120° or so-----let the frame sit for about 15 min and then bend to shape. I would hold it in place until it totally cools down to minimize the plastic "memory". You can try this until all four wheels sit square.

I've heard of others taking a hair blow dryer and heating the plastic.............be careful though as those hair dryers get hot mighty fast! I personally wouldn't recommend that though since you've already built it up.

Even though this kit is a newer tool...........I always recommend looking over major parts for warpage before starting--------they don't always come out of the factory perfect. :(

    Hope this helps!

Used the blow dryer method and it worked great!

  12. I look forward to seeing how this progresses!

If you're shooting for traditional..I would use the bias plys and steel wheels included in the kit. If its a shelf model..you can add some tubing and glue them offset to the inner wheel halves to lower it...

The steelies fit the radial tires too, so you can always do that also

You building up the flathead with the speedparts?

    SANY0023-vi.jpg

Ryan- Thanks for the pointers! I was thinking about going with the steelies but opped for the other wheels. Not sure why but I did. I am building the flathead with the power-adders. I am still kinda getting back into model making so I didn't want to press my luck by lowering it.

Your 48 Ford, on the other hand, looks amazing. I love the weathered look with the super clean tires and wheels.
