  1. Thanks Raul, Maybe I will have to use this plate again if I ever finish this thing I think I'll post this one up in the Under Glass Forum, I kinda like it.
  2. Ok so by now at least some of you have been seeing this â€new guy†CraigDaModeler posting a few times. Well I am not really new, just been in a major lack-of-motivation building slump for over two years. I posted up a couple of my previous builds to try and see if I can light a spark. So this is my next step, posting the project that has been sitting mostly idle for over two years. Here is the engine mock up straight out the box. Needless to say I was not at all happy with those bulky molded in belts so away they went. Here is the mock up before and after paint. All if this is currently disassembled and I have started detailing. It is nearly ready to be reassembled. Here is what it is going in…..68 Camino. Fitted MRC Key Stone Classic wheels with Mickey Thompson tires. Raised the rear end a bit having to rebuild the shocks. This is the most recent thing I have done about two months ago. The paint is HOC Emerald Pearl. Currently it has about four wet coats of clear lacquer with the second coat getting a little blue & green pearl powder mixed in. I hope to soon finish off may last coats of clear and get the polishing done. With the lack of building motivation also came a lack of photographing motivation so I apologize for the less than adequate paint job photos. Hopefully that will come in again as well!! I have a few other things done on this project like the fuel and brake lines installed and the rear end, while disassembled is painted and ready for assembly. The wheels and tires are ready with the exception of paint the white lettering. Thanks for looking
  3. Thanks for all the comment folks. Here are a couple of photos of the underside. Detailed with fuel line, brake lines & E-brake cable. I also modified the kit front end parts to make pose-able steering.
  4. Here is some muscle I built about 5 years ago. This was one of my first nail polish paint jobs. Once I got the color where I wanted it, it received in the neighborhood of 12 coats of clear lacquer total. Lots of wet sanding along the way and lots of polishing paid off!! A little lift to the rear end and hand painted white lettering on the MRC aftermarket tires gave this one that nice aggressive muscle look.
  5. "I thought you had a Hemi." "Yeah, I had to have a footprint gas pedal installed. So I stole this pile." Love that movie! Great build! Put a smoke bomb under it and film it!!!!
  6. Greetings guys and gals, I am making this post in an effort to try and revive my model building interest. This is the last model I completed……that was in early 2005! I have actually been a registered member on this forum for over a year, joined about the time I sunk deep into my “slumpâ€, a major motivation issue I have yet to hurdle. I have one project on the bench and in two years it is not even half done. I recently started lurking again and even posted my sob story on in the General forum under the ‘Reintroduction Thread (I will not repost that here, go there if interested, page 6) Anywhoot, I thought maybe I could get myself back on track by actively participating on the board. So I will start it off with my last completed build. I don’t think I posted this model any were before, not just due to the slump but because I never even took the time to take decent photos, something I loved to do as much as building. This is all I have so excuse the poor images. No more words, just the photos.
  7. Greetings from ‘Nawlins, La (New Orleans for all you northerners & other foreigners) My name is Craig Naquin and I used to be an avid model builder. I am currently suffering from a MAJOR motivational building slump for over two years. It is so bad I even missed going to several contests/shows in the past couple years, something I have been doing religiously for the past 10 years. I rarely post on any model forum either these days but still lurk fairly regularly. My sob story- The slump hit me just after hurricane Katrina hit these parts (August 2005). Fortunately my home suffered very minimal damage (I actually live about 20 miles west of New Orleans), and I was back in my house within a couple of weeks. However the company I work for had over 6 feet of water for a couple of weeks. After the water resided, I was given the task of boarding the broken windows and cleaning the place out (two buildings). This went on for about two weeks. After that, we landed a huge job and I was able to work from my home. My occupation-Fire Alarm/Life Safety System Design. This work at home gig was great and lasted about seven months. Anyway earlier in 2005 I had finished a 55 Chevy Convertible that turned out good enough to place 1st at the IPMS Nationals in a field of over 40 Factory Stock entries and needless to say I was on model building cloud nine. After that Build I had two other projects underway when the Katrina thing happened. After all the initial hoopla of getting settled back in I completed those projects. That is when the slump began. I had a hard time staying motivated and basically had to make myself sit at the bench. While both of those builds turned out quite well (according to several contest results& other builder comments) I was losing the will to build. Months passed before I could bring myself to start another project. I finally did start a new project and two years later it is not even half way completed. The motivation only comes and goes in spurts. To make myself sit at the bench usually ends up making it feel like “work†and not fun. I will try and make a separate post with my current project and maybe some feedback will spark some motivation. I do not want to highjack this thread for that. If you are still with me, here is a little about myself. I am 45 (no by the time I hit the ‘add reply’ button, it’ll be March 27 and I’ll be 46) I have been married to the same wonderful, hobby supportive woman for 22 years, have two boys 17 & 15, just “celebrated†24 years of ownership of my very first brand new car an 84 ElCamino that I bought Feb 29th 1984 and even though I just bought a brand new car in October (Nissan Altama Coupe….very fun drive), the Camino still maintains one of the two coveted garage parking spaces ( being the loving husband, the wife gets the other garage spot). I been in the Fire Alarm/Life Safety business for the past 22 years and am currently the vice president of the La Automatic Fire Alarm Assoc. I “put together†some models as a kid but did not really start “building†models till 1998 at the age of 38. I have met so many talented people through this hobby and formed some good friendships as well. I always tell people there is no other hobby or sport that I know of that includes competition, where competing persons are not only willing to share their secrets to success it is actually a driving force, a major part of the hobby itself!! Man I sure did not mean for this to go on so long. But hey, I think I got myself pump up and just might have to sit a that bench again! Craig Here is my 55 Chevy. My Fotki Site

  9. Gald to see you back at the bench Ray! Of course build for fun but as far as contests go, never ever count out your work. Clean building goes a long way at a judged contest and you got that part down! Keep us posted.
  10. Love the grapics Mr. Raisin! Nice build!!
  11. This one was built about four years ago......At the time I thought it was a pretty decent build.....but now......

  14. Since I have nothing new to show I thought I would pull some stuff from the archives to share. Hope it is new to at least a few lookers! This is a box stock build. Painted with Sally Hensen Blue Sapphire Chrome Nail Polish toped with a dozen or so coats of clear lacquer. Thanks for looking.
  15. These are fantastic builds. You gotta get back to the bench my friend!!
  16. Hey Bob, I am trying to work out a plan to make it to the show this year. Hope it works out it is always great to talk in person with you!
  17. Hey Mr. Raisin! I take it we both drifted from that other place....I still visit but no posting.....have not seen your name there lately either. I just hooked up here today. Anyway I see you are still branching out yet still in the Ford family! Since a Maverick was my first car, I love too see scale builds...can't wait to see this one completed!
  18. Many of you "other forum" guys probably have seen this build. Thanks for looking.
  19. Hello all! I've been around the model seen for about 8 years, I just found out about this forum (thanks Ray). I am just pulling out of a major motivational slump and hope to post some progress on my current project soon. Hopefully this forum will help keep the motivation up and the chair at the benck warm!
