  1. I had no idea they made BMF to be used on 1:1 cars! Didn't think they came in sheets that big...

In all seriousness though, that is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, Marcos!!

Everything looks perfect and it looks incredible under the hood! Don't know what else to say but, AWESOME BUILD!

  2. Well, that was good for a laugh...

Did they just put a bunch of GM car names into a hat and pick out 5? They must really be running out of things to write about over there... To me, this the equivalent of having a "top 5 tastiest meals", "top 5 songs", "top 5 movies", etc...

None of those cars would be on my GM top 5, except maybe the '70 Z/28... but NOT the RS "split bumper". I think the full bumper version looks SO MUCH cooler (The parking light locations and bumper just looks better IMHO).

It almost drives me nuts sometimes when people refer to those Camaros as the "split bumper" cars, especially since there were a lot more produced without them. It was an RS package bumper only.

...And I know they (2nd gens) were produced late for the '70 model year, but the many people calling them "70 1/2" bugs me too (Even on the AMT boxes sitting behind me right now). Show me a title from the DMV for one that says 1970 & 1/2 or 1970.5 on it!

:END Rant: (before it turns into ten pages) Sorry, I just LOVE my old Camaros :D

To stick to the nature of the thread, I'll try a top 5 of my own (Gonna be hard as a GM guy)

    1. '67 Nova
    2. '55 Chevy
    3. '68 Nova
    4. '67 Camaro RS/SS
    5. '70 Camaro Z/28
    6. ....man! I knew this wasn't gonna work! I have SO many more (and I'm not even sure about the order of my top 5 now... )
  3. Ok, I know this doesn't relate directly to the model... but I found this online. It's a drag Gremlin, so it sort of applies here. :D Anyway, can someone explain the exhaust setup on this car?

That definitely looks a bit "strange"... so, I had to try and find out more! LOL

    - Best I could find here: http://rides.hotrod....72/amc/gremlin/

...looks like exhaust manifolds for a boat??

Edit: Here's more (with a short answer from the owner LOL): http://www.streetfir...lin_2385400.htm

  4. Best deal ever on the 'bay was actually a 1:1 engine...

One of our Mustangs ('87 Coupe) runs a turbocharged 4 cylinder, and I'm always on the lookout for "spare parts". I did my usual search "ford 2.3" and found an engine on one of the last pages that was pulled from a Ranger with 47k on it and 20 miles from my house. Since it had the correct bottom end for what we run (minus the cast pistons), I figured "might as well" and bid a dollar on the $0.99 he had started the auction as.

About 5-6 days went by and I had actually completely forgot about it, until I checked my email and found out I had won for 99 cents.

I called the guy and met him at the warehouse he worked at with my buddy's F250 and it was all nicely strapped to a pallet and wrapped in plastic. I gave him a dollar and said "keep the change" LOL.... and he loaded right into the truck with a forklift!

I actually felt kinda bad when I got home. I unwrapped it and EVERYTHING was there, from pan to throttle body... had all the accessories, wiring harness, etc... Only thing wrong with it was the water pump pulley was crunched from the accident it was in. The oil was SUPER clean, everything looked new when I tore it down. It had practically brand new motorcraft wires and plugs. It was obviously well taken care of...

Wish I could find some more deals like that! :)

  5. VERY cool looking Impala! I LOVE IT!!

As others have already pointed out, the color looks AWESOME on it. I personally love white cars (I think about 90% of the 1:1 cars I've owned so far were white)... IMHO, it's just a great color for pretty much anything and always looks great if it's kept clean.

  6. Thanks for the kind words. I was minus details so I went with a slight two part body colour. I was considering a thin red line above the silver, but wasn't sure how to execute it right. When i was a kid i loved seeing these style Camaro's

VERY NICE JOB on this kit!!

It's funny you mention the red line because I was going to say- When I was a kid, my father had an '83 or '84 IDENTICAL to this, except it had a thin red stripe between the white and silver (and factory rims)...

It was kind of a turd as far as performance (Had the typical low compression 305 "non-H.O." with a Q-jet and 5-speed... 150hp on a good day), but it was a really clean and sharp looking car. Nice ride and handled VERY well for what it was.

Just curious: Did it have holes in the body to mount the mirrors? They should be further forward right next to the black window guides...

Again, VERY NICE JOB! I really like it a LOT!

  7. REALLY Loving this build so far, Nick!

You're doing an awesome job. Interior and engine look GREAT!! I especially love the key chain and the "footprint" gas pedal. B)

Reminds me of that part on Joe Dirt - "I thought you said you had a hemi?.." ~ "Oh...ummm... It's at the shop right now having the footprint gas pedal installed..." I might have to watch that again now... Funny movie!

  8. The only cure for what ails you is time. You'll be 18 soon enough. Then you'll be 20, then 30, then 40... and you'll be wishing you were 16 again.

Enjoy your youth while you have it. It goes away real fast. ;)

    My thoughts EXACTLY!!!

I can't really contribute much...as I am 31 (where'd the time go?!!), but the part about the ride to Florida makes me upset. VERY un-cool...

  9. The hood is one that Tom started. It's a Baldwin Camaro spliced into the cnt. I finished it w/ filler and such. So it's actually two hood's.

    Michaelj...

Ahh. I see... VERY NICE JOB!!

  10. I was gonna say the rear end housing, wheelie bars, trans, and other things look amazing...

But, I've come to the realization that EVERYTHING looks amazing! :)

I love the nitrous motor too! Something about those split-dominators on top really tickles my fancy. B)

I'm really enjoying watching this car come together! It's looking AWESOME!!

  11. NICE JOB!! I like it a lot!

Nice job getting the front fenders on there! The body looks VERY nice and it's very interesting to see that mill under the hood of a Nova. B) Is that the hood from the Revell kit, by chance? edit: nevermind the hood, I can see it's not from the revell after looking again...

Although, IMHO, the new Revell Nova is a much better kit (assembly and fitment wise), there are a few things I like better about this one... The wheel openings look a lot more correct, as does the tail panel. The tail isn't that bad to fix on the Revell, but the wheel openings bother me a bit (looks more like they belong on a '69 Camaro... ).

  12. I don't think you install 20"+ wheels for a sleeper look.

It sounds great, I think. Nothing quite like the whine of a supercharger. :)

Yeah, I agree with ya on that, generally you wouldn't. LOL... I meant he was maybe going for a look to try and catch people off guard.

I do agree that it sounds great! I wouldn't be racing with those big rims though... I bet the weight of those things alone slow the car down noticeably and it surely would never hook worth a darn!

I like the car a lot better in the second video. :)
