  1. Alan, please tell us more about the Impala stuff!

I've got the resin parts ready to go; just waiting to get the photoetch. I might start casting up the parts & if anybody wants to order now I can send the photoetch later. The chassis/suspension/drivetrain from the 67 AMT kit(the one with the blue Impala on the box) will be needed to complete it. I have the original 68 chassis but everything is molded in so the 67 unit offers much better detail.

I'll post updates here as things progress. Thanks for asking Jeff!

  2. Those are Revell tires, just FYI.

I'll have to locate my Aurora tires in the meantime, as they're in storage...

Thanks for the info Casey. I never bought any of the big scale funny cars so I don't know what came in where. :D When I post the pics I'll remember to put Revell instead of Aurora.

  3. The rear M&H slicks, I presume? You have my attention. B)

Any plans to do the front tires, too?

The slicks I have are Goodyear & Firestone 500 slicks. They are a thin, floppy rubber. One of my club members gave them to me & I thought he said they were Aurora but I really don't remember 100%. He didn't give me any of the front tires but if somebody sent one I'm sure I could make them..... Hint, hint..... ;)

  4. I think on the Fotki site if you click on the thumbnail, it'll give you the better original image that Alan uploaded to them?

These BFG mud-terrains measure out to 35", available in nice soft rubber or black resin!

Thanks for posting the pics Jeff & the kind words. The same to you Mike.

The Fotki thumbs aren't that great but if you click on them the big pic is better. I'm not the greatest photographer either. B)

I'm also working on some 4x4 conversion kits for a number of vehicles & the original hollow slicks from the 1/16 Aurora funnycars. I'll post some pics when done.

  5. That's one reason I LOVE being an AMERICAN of mexican descent(both my parents are/were mexican)My ancestors practiced BLOOD sacrifices! 6. I was going to mention Alan also

I just got some more of his samples, and oh my gosh!

    This guy is good.

I would love to get a great web site for Alan up and running.

The quality is top of the line

    And I see them all!

    WOW...the Big Kahuna...... ;)

Thanks for the plug Gregg! I promise I'll get a website soon!! I'm not a computer expert but I try.

An early Mele Kalikimaka & keep checking the mailbox!

  7. It was called "The Master's Challenge" The rules were pretty basic - automotive subject, 1/24-25 scale, one entry per person, $100. entry fee. I sent my money off right away but it got returned about 6 months later. It is a shame so many people were so negative about it. All it took to get an invite was to have someone who was already invited invite you! It couldn't have been easier! I never thought I would have had a chance to win but I just wanted to participate and be there. It was obviously for the highly skilled model builder. They are plenty of contests and NNLs for the less skilled and less ambitious model builder to go to. I was really disappointed in some of the people who were going around bad-mouthing it. Most of them weren't competitive builders anyway. I don't know the actual reason for the cancellation but I was bummed out, Man!!!

I agree Andy. It would have been a really cool get together. I sent mine in right away, too. I think all the negative response played a big part in killing it. But we still have GSL to shoot for. See you there!

  8. Alan, you rascal you, ya beat me to YOU! I was gonna recommend ya to him! You DON'T need to worry Mike, Alan's one of the BEST out there! If ANYBODY can do ya right, Alan CAN!!! Go for it Dude!, You WON'T be sorry!;)

Thanks George. :D I've been casting a lot of rubber lately & doing some of that "let's try it & see if I can do it stuff". Yesterday I managed to cast the Firestone hollow tires from the old MPC 1/20th STP turbine kit.

    Original is on the left.

    Also started on this kit:

Anyone crazy 'bout a Mercury?? :)

    Thanks cuz!

  9. I am looking for a person who can cast me some resin tires that are soft. made out of something like Urethane. I can send you the tire itself, and can pay(not much at first) or trade. I got a couple things left but not much. I am looking to get a couple sets made, and want to mess around with them. If anyone can do something like that, please let me know. We can haggle over the details via PM.

    Hi Mike:

Check out this site: Visit My Website

I'm sure I can help you out. :)

  10. Those of us who are certifed old farts probably remember hearing at some time that cigarettes were bad, but cigars were OK. This was probably due to all the old timers out there who always seemed to be puffing on a cigar; ie the George Burns crowd. My grandfather was part of that group & he also lived to a ripe old age. I enjoy a good cigar a couple times a year with no ill effects. Like anything else, it requires some self control. What brand would I recommend? Either Onyx, La Aurora or if you can find them Fidalgo Negro.

So pour yourself some 30 year single malt & kick back.

  11. Thanks for the kind words George. I'm a little behind schedule, but I've got the 71, 72 & 73 Chargers on deck.

I've been working on a 68 Impala kit with parts & photoetch for the Impala, SS, SS427, Bel Air & Biscayne. There will be a coupe & convertable version. And a bunch more off road tires & stuff.

And that's in my "spare" time. I need to win the lottery!

Have a Happy Turkey day cuz!

  12. Great save Dave! The molding on these kits was very nice & one of my favorites from the good ol' days.

Here's a shot of my built ups:

    NNL18_0080-vi.jpg

I also have them unbuilt. The Stutz & Mercer were also available as slot car kits. There were also color variations as each kit was also molded in a reverse color scheme.

    Thanks for sharing!

  13. Hey Charlz - yeah, the Quickset is finicky when it comes to the correct amount of activator. Sometimes it takes a few months to completely sweat out the excess(been there, done that). The HS-II won't do that if you add too much, but it will end up with air pockets from curing too fast. I'm an Alumilite distributor so if I can ever help feel free to contact me. Good luck with your casting.

  14. Another great job Bill!! I remember this one from the good ol' days & it was one of the most difficult kits at the time (and it still ranks right up there). I know I messed it up. B)

I'll be at Gilbertsville next Sun so I'll talk to you there.
