ALIEN MAGNETISM! I used "Strong Magnets" from a Craft Store. I glued the first Magnet in the center of the Saucer's Bottom/Inside. Next I cut a hole that will allow the Magnet on the Bottom Section to enter the underside of the Saucer. There was a Ridge, on the inside, that goes around the hole I just cut. I glued a strip of Thin Plastic across the Ridge to hold the Second Battery. The Second Battery is now glued in. Even with a strip of thin plastic between them, the Magnets are strong enough to hold the Saucer in place. More Coming...

UFO LIGHTS! I decided that I wanted Lights in the Saucer. The Original Movie Saucers didn't have Lights but I thought this might be a Newer Model with all of the upgrades. I carved out the inside edge of a length of Brass Tubing with a #11 X-Acto Knife until it was sharp all around the end. Then I cut it to about 1/2 inch long. Next I stacked up 4 layers of Blue Masking Tape and put the stack of tape on a piece of hard wood. Then I put the Cut Tube on top of the Stacked Tape and hit it with a hammer. This gave me many little round Masks for the windows. Here are the Dots in place. They will mask the round Portholes Shapes on the Saucer. More Coming...

THE SUPPORT BEAM! Here is the Ray Gun in place on the bottom of the Saucer. It will be held in place by Magnets...No Glue. Here is the bottom of the Saucer in place. No Glue yet, this is just a Mock-Up. More Coming...

THE RAY GUN!...Done I cut a slot in the Ball Point Pen End with a Cut-Off Wheel. I made it wide enough to hold the Rounded Plastic Strip. Next I glued it to the bottom section of the Saucer. Here is how the Ray Gun fits together, but it isn't glued yet... More Coming...

THE RAY GUN!...Part 3 I cut out the slot in the Rounded Strip Plastic, for the Tack with a Cut-Off Wheel and then sanded it smooth. Next I glued the Plastic Strip into the Dish Shape to form the bottom of the Ray Gun. Here is the Tube mounted to the House, with the Ray Gun Bottom glued to the Tube Tack! More Coming...

THE RAY GUN!...Part 2 I drilled a hole in the end of the Tube and inserted a Tack. Hopefully this will be strong enogh to hold up the Saucer... Next I drilled a hole in the center of the Dish, for the Tack. Then I cut the Tack down a bit and measured how long to make the Rounded Plastic Strip. More Coming...

THE RAY GUN!...Part 1 I need to build this Ray Gun Strong enough to support the Flying Saucer. I started with the end of a Retractable Ball Point Pen and a Plastic Part that looks like a Satellite Dish. I used a Plastruc part but you could probably find a button that would work. Next I needed a piece of plastic strip. I rounded off the end with a Foam Sanding Board. Then I filed a groove wide enough to hold the Plastic Strip. More Coming...

SWEET TUNES With BABY MOONS! While working on the Interior I realized I had No Music. So I decided to make Speakers from Moon Hubcaps! I measured and traced 2 circles on the Interior and then cut them out. Here is one of the New Speakers in place. It will be painted with flat black later. I found this Instrument Panel in an AMT 57 Chevy, should be just right for the Cam Air. I applied a Black Wash to enhance the Gauge Faces. More Coming...

LASER BEAM! The Laser Beam actually supports the Saucer. I found plastic tubes and shapes at Tap Plastic, Dollar Store, Hobby Shop and Plastic Champaign Glasses at the Department Store. Maybe Cigar tubes? Look around you will find some Great Shapes! I ended up using a Clear Tube and will Tint the Lens later. Here is what happens when you shine a light in the Tube! I cut a hole in the roof to fit the Laser Tube. I think the roof might need a little bracing to support the Saucer... More Coming...

LASER LIGHT! The Laser Beam will be a Big part of the Diorama. I am using parts from a Dollar Store Flashlight for the Laser Light. I will be using the Lights and the Battery Holder from the Flashlight. I found an old Switch from a RC Radio. Later, I cut off the Plug and RC Battery Holder. Perfect for the Laser Beam! After doing a lot of testing, I figured out how to solder the switch between the Lights and Battery. It Works! More Coming...

SPACE PEARLS! I have been looking for a while, for some half round shapes for the Saucer. I found these at a Michaels Craft Store on Clearance! After figuring thier positioning I glued the Space Pearls in place with Formula 560 White Glue. I used a toothpick and filled in any gaps with Formula 560. Lots More Coming...

A LITTLE DIRT & GRASS! I found a bag of HO Scale Grass at our New Hobby Shop, Fundemonium Hobbies! The Grass is very realistic, it can be applied to the model with paint or glue. It's kind of like, working with flocking. Here you can see it pretty good. Instead of just one color it comes with several all in the mix! I also got a bag of Dirt at our New Hobby Shop! I drilled holes for Trees to be added later. Then I painted a Brown Circle around each hole and sprinkled Dirt over the paint. More Coming...
