  1. Thanks everyone, tips and all. This was a lot of fun for me. I'm happy with how it came out, but I could have done so much better if I had had the supplies I needed, but money is tight right now since I bought a old Chevy truck recently, so I worked with what I had lol Next I'm gonna probably start on the 70 1/2 Camaro.
  2. Thanks man. I had plans to use a brighter green, but when I saw this one at Hobby Lobby I figured I'd give it a shot.
  3. They came with the kit. Thats the first time I bought a kit with them already painted, oh and thanks. Thank you.
  4. PROJECT FINISHED!!! You can find it here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101265&hl= Any critiques are welcome, and thanks guys for the help picking out an interior color. I never did 2 tone interior before.
  5. It's finally done. There were some things I wish I could have done better, but in any case I had a lot of fun building this. I managed to use some photoetched parts on the carb linkage, and run fuel lines down to the fuel pump. I also wired the distributor. I made my own hood pins and clips. I tried making a working flip up license plate to show the gas cap, but that didn't go so well, but it could have been worse lol. I also painted my first 2 tone interior, and made a working trunk lid with carpet and spare. The only thing i really didn't like about this kit was the grill, since they molded the headlight in with it with no seperate clear lenses. I don't have anything around here to strip chrome off, and I didn't have anything close to the color I needed to make it look right. I just had to learn to live with it. Now on to the next project!!!
  6. Got the hood mocked up with the hinges, also I found metallic sharpies work great for chrome trim. I was thinking about it last night and I'm gonna attempt to make a make the license plate work like the real ones. I'm hoping I can get a spring mechanism to close it when it's flipped down to show the gas cap. Only problem is finding a spring small enough.
  7. I remember my dad had a 69 Charger that had a similiar set up Thanks! ^__^
  8. I was thinking that myself, but I was worried it would look wierd. I think I'll give it a go though. If it looks bad I can always start over lol
  9. I'm getting there fellas lol Right now my biggest issue is interior color. It's either gonna be white or black.
  10. Thanks Bandit. i checked em out, and it gave me a pretty clear idea and where to start. I'll give it a try when it warms up today.
  11. Actually I do too now, and some other spots as well. Problem is I've never tried to fix that problem before, but I really want to this time. I googled it and the best solution I found was wet sanding with 2000 grit 3M sandpaper, but I'm open to any other suggestions. I'd really like to do it right this time.
  12. Well 426 I guess I'm gonna go with the 426 lol
  13. Thanks everybody. It feels good to be working on a model car again after so long, and reading everyones comments has been real motivating. Thanks again
  14. Some quick pics before I head to bed. I got the clear coat layer on and couldn't help but mock it up to see how she looks. Certainly is shining now ^__^
  15. Ok so I knew I wanted some kind of green, and I saw this at Hobby Lobby and figured I give this a try. It's called Mystic Emerald. Looks like plain ol' dark metal flake green to me, but oh well.
  16. I actually decided to go with the stock wheels after I checked out some photos online of the real things, and thanks. I should have an update soon. I move kind of slowly lol
  17. There was some flash, but nothing to bad, and nothing is warped as far as I can tell. There were some pretty visible mold lines coming down from the rear window and following down to where the tail lights go, but with a little sanding you can't even tell they were ever there. Also I like that this kit came with the white lettering already on the tires, and if you flip em over you have the choice of redlines instead. I don't know if this is standard with all AMT Round 2 kits or not since this is the first kit I've even gotten from them.
  18. Thanks ^__^ This is my first kit of the year. I hope I'm not to rusty.
  19. Something my brother picked up for me today. The 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. I got some photo etched parts I'm gonna use on this and a pre-built distributor, and I already cut out the trunk, so I can make a working trunk lid. I wanna make a cowl induction hood, I don't know yet. I really wish I could find some baby moon rims for it since I'm not to happy with the stock and custom rims that come with the kit. I'll have to wait and see what I can do with it.
