I got this idea brewing, I know I have not been here long but I got an idea and just wanted to pass it by everyone. If there is enough interest we could start this one up soon. Here is my idea...... A movie automobile community build/contest The builds would have to be as close as possible to any vehicle that starred in a movie, It don't matter if its showroom excellent or a piece of junk, as long as it was in a movie. I am thinking to limit this one to either cars, vans, suvs, and pickups. It would also be cool to add a screenshot of your build so everyone knows what you would be shooting for. Now for the contest part, If this is ok with the admin and everyone else, At the end date of the build I would start another poll thread showing all the vehicles completed and all the people on here can vote for their favorite. For the winner I will buy a 1 year subscription to Model Cars Magazine( heck I dont even have one yet lol). So if this is ok with everyone and there is enough intrest I will start this one soon. Lets hear your thoughts!!

OHH how about flat black with gloss red pin striping or racing stripes.
-
Awesome, Would look really good with some rusty flat black paint!

Yeah its the newer kit, The tires sag and dont touch the rims in some spots. Is that site you gave the only option or are there others? Thanks
-
That would be perfect! PM Sent. Does anyone know a good place to buy tires and rims for a Truck? The tires that came with this kit suck bad. They are all flimsy and wont stay where they are supposed to.

I just started a build thread in the Trucks section but I will add the same info here! This is my first build in about 13 years. I have been working on it a few days now and the way the body attached to the frame, I figured I had to do some body work so I did the interior and put that in then attached the cab to the frame. I then added a little filler and primed and painted it. The paint I used is High Heat Engine paint, It comes in a spray can. I do not yet have an airbrush so this was the only route I could go to get the paint color I wanted. I do not know anything about painting to get good results. I was thinking of doing a clear coat but do not know the process with sanding and polishing. This is pretty much my dream truck, I am going to try to find a nice headache rack for it and a flatbed trailer. Ok now time for some pics!!!

This is my first build in about 13 years. I figured being a truck driver I better do a truck!! Thanks guys for all the info!!! -
So what are the better airbrushes, Gravity or siphoned?
-
What is future and how is it used?
-
Well, I have my entry, Went to a hobby shop today and picked one up. It is the Revell Kenworth W900. This will be my first model built in about 13 years. I now just have to figure out what trailer I want to go with it and find one!!
-
Thats what I am looking for, I like to get a general idea of what others use. I have never used an airbrush but I am going to buy one and have no clue of the good paints to use to get awesome finishes. Also is there anything better than regular little bottles of testors model paints for brushing the parts?
-
I was wondering what you all use for paints. brand, type, ect. When I built models before I just used testors paints for parts and testors spray paint for bodys.
-
You can throw my name down, But I do not have a truck to enter yet. I am going to go to the hobby shop this weekend to pick one up!! What is the deadline on this?

Would there be any interest in a tractor trailer community build?

Awesome, Are those pettibone axles?

I am having trouble finding suppliers of scale diorama pieces, parts for models(like wheels, tires, visors, and other misc parts), and also plastic sheet, rod tube, ect. I figured if you all shared your suppliers we could have a big list(if there is not one already). Also list if any have catalogs(i like to flip through pages). If there is already a list of these please delete this thread. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the welcome all!! I have been reading a lot in the trucks section, I will be spending a lot of time there!! I will be doing a wip of my builds as I start them!!

Hello all, I could not find an intro section so I thought I would just put it here. My name is Ernie Swanson. i live in NW Wisconsin. I used to build models when I was younger and loved it. I had about 35 cars and pickups. Well growing up and moving several times I have lost them all. I am getting back into it and am happy I found this site. I hope to be able to do half as good as you all here. I think I am going to attempt a Semi Truck first, I am a trucker so it fits me well.

Sorry, I am new here. I was just reading this thread and I never seen Plymouth mentioned:( How can we forget about the name of some of the worlds best muscle cars? Ok now off to introduce myself!!
