  1. The dash is done too. I used the same painting technique for the wood grain as I did on the console.
  2. Flocking/carpet didn't seem to fit the theme so the floor of the interior was sprayed with textured dark gray to simulate a rubberized coating. The rest of the parts were painted as called out in the instructions, sort of… I swapped Medium Gray for the Black inserts. The silver and gray are brush painted.
  3. The engine bay is pretty much done.
  4. I don't think Santa delivers unfinished toys Tim. Thanks! It is coming along...
  5. Thanks guys! I didn't like the connection of the header to the exhaust. So I "welded" them together.
  6. The bottom of the chassis is done. At least for now…
  7. It's the Tamiya kit, straight out of the box.
  8. It's a very nice kit with PE and machined parts. I spent more time painting the belt and pulleys than any other part on the engine. I had to use the factory Sky Blue for the one pulley.
  9. Most of the engine has been assembled.
  10. More final fitting, fine tuning and triple checking before the side pods were attached permanently. That meant one more round of test fitting the other removable panels before moving along…
  11. This is from an old 1/32nd scale Hasegawa F-86F Sabre kit. I found it in my Dad's collection and always had been intrigued by that tug (going back 50 years…). Unfortunately there were no instructions in the kit, and the only ones I found online did not include the tug or the engine so I just test fitted the parts until it was done. The tubing is old Tamiya material from motorcycle kits. WIP:
  12. Something simpler to tinker on while I wait for stuff to dry on other projects. I have a basic plan… Mostly I've just been cleaning up the parts and shooting some of them when I'm painting the same colors on other parts. But since I had the body prepped I went ahead and shot it TS-56 Cheeze Wiz.
  13. Here is the engine with all the hoses and little parts installed. The tailpipe will go on after it is fitted to the trailer.
  14. Think I got all the little parts to go where they should. The tubing that came in the kit was pretty brittle and stuck in this squirrely shape. I'm replacing that tubing with leftover fresher material from Tamiya kits. I've already installed a few hoses.
  15. The dolly is done; well, at least it's ready to accept the jet engine…
  16. A little more weathering and I'm figuring out where some of the smaller engine parts go.
  17. The engine was disassembled and cleaned up and then the parts were painted; mostly silver and black. I painted one part metallic gray and airbrushed just the leading edge of the exhaust cone the same color. The fans are painted black and dry brushed with silver.
  18. I thought once the tug was done it would easier to figure out what the dolly parts were from what was left on the runner, but apparently there are two dollies. (Maybe one is for the armament?) So I'm still playing the same guessing game to a degree, but I think this is the majority of the dolly parts. Curiously there are still several more parts still on the runner. I already assembled and shot these pieces the same yellow.
  19. I semi-dry assembled the engine to figure out how it all fits together. A nut & bolt are provided to sandwich the metal parts of it together, and that was helpful. The circular halved parts were cemented together and the rest is tacked together with white glue. I'll use it as a guide to help figure out the dolly parts.
  20. Thanks for the tip on the steering wheel Alan. I can grime it up more. I was actually wondering about that.
  21. This part is done, but the project is not finished yet… The mirror faces are foil.
  22. I found the rear license plate so I removed the decal on the right rear and made a duplicate one for the new part. I also added another Toyota decal for the rear; slightly different than the one on the front. More weathering/wear was applied as I went along adding parts. The seats were done with washes of brown panel line accent.
  23. I noticed a couple holes on the body that I could not find parts to put into them so I had to fill them and touch up/blend the paint. I went ahead and cemented the hood section to the body since the pedals and steering column are installed.
