  1. Paul, Thanks for the suggestions re: enamel primer and lacquer paint. You've more than likely saved me a bunch of stripping, sanding, and the like. As a beginner builder once again, I'm thinking I'll play it safe and just use lacquer primer, at least for a while. I'm sure the painting and priming process will create enough of a challenge using the 'proper' combinations of materials. Especially thanks for the suggestion re: "Paint the top side of the chassis from the firewall forward"... It hadn't occurred to me that the top of the chassis would be visible. Maybe I should post update photos so you guys can "keep me in check" and save me time, work, and money before I make more of these mistakes of the unexperienced builder. Thanks Again! Steve
  2. Purty builds, mr and Stasch! Either of those blues look great and actually look to my untrained eye to be pretty close to the same color. I just got an order in today with some Tamiya Metallic Blue which I'm hoping will be about the same as both of yours. At least the top of the can seems to be close. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I should use an enamel primer with that lacquer paint??? Of course I forgot to order a lacquer primer when I made this order that I just received, lol. What do you guys use for cementing clear (windshields, etc.)? I suppose I should have ordered some cement for clear also.. ugh. I do have the engine completed and attached to the chassis. Although there's room for improvement, I'll have to say I've almost impressed myself with this being the first model I've attempted to build in many years.
  3. I'm trying to build my first model car in years and am having trouble determining the best color match for a '69 Nova SS. I'm sure there has to be a good match in a spray (probably acrylic, or maybe lacquer????). Any help in matching car manufacturer colors to paint manufacturer colors (color charts maybe) would be MUCH appreciated!! TIA! Steve Schilbe Winston Salem, NC
