Spraypaint question
robdot replied to streetracer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
so i was looking at the duplicolors and i only saw one primer, it was a grey. i have had problems before with grey primers showing through. i tried to spray red testors over testors grey primer and it bled through. i saw a rustoleum that said for plastic and it was an off white kinda color. can i put duplicolors over this? or over any of the other rustoleum primers ? -

krylon, whats the verdict?
robdot replied to robdot's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
its price. same amount of money for 3 oz of testers or model masters or 12 oz of krylon. looking at duplicolor online i dont see any colors in their lacquers. do you mean their enamels? i didnt like the testers enamel, it went on thick , ugly , and took forever to dry. -
i have seen many discussions on using krylon for plastic cars. whats the verdict? i see two types of krylon at wal mart. the fusion and the stuff labeled indoor outdoor. can i use the primer marked indoor outdoor and put fusion over it? can i put testors and mm lacquers over that primer? can i spray the lacquer modelmaster clears over fusion? i have a can of it even tho iv been using future.

well, i went to wal mart to look at the krylon fusions. it doesnt say if its lacquer or enamel. it says its fast drying tho. it does say for plastic. but i didnt see any primer in that line. there was a white primer in the outdoor indoor labeled krylon paint, can i use that? can i use those indoor outdoor sprays on plastic cars? it doesnt say plastic on the indoor outdoor can. am i not supposed to prime the fusion paint? they did have some colors in the fusion line i liked and also in the indoor outdoor line. these were $4.34 for a 12 oz can, so it would be nice if they worked. i have an elvira thunderbird i paid 40 bucks for. i like the fusion blue, but i dont wanna screw up my 40 dollar model. thanks for your help. -

im really tired of paying 5 bucks for these little cans of spray paint. im trying to figure out what you guys are talking about here. are you buying these large cans of krylon and just using it outa the can? or you airbrushing? i would really like to find a can of 12 oz paint for 99 cents. ) -

robdot replied to ra7c7er's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i recently purchased a jolly rodger custom rod for 25.00, a boot hill express for 30 dollars, and an elvira thunderbird for 30 dollars. all 3 were sold as factory sealed and appear to be so as i havent opened them yet. -
concerning hydrogen cars and co2. im sorry, i phrased that wrong. hydrogen cells and cars will produce co2 over their life time because the process of making hydrogen produces a lot of co2. over their lifetime hydrogen cars will produce more carbon than gas cars. oil takes millions of years to form and WILL run out, All the easy oil and gas in the world has pretty much been found. Now comes the harder work in finding and producing oil from more challenging environments and work areas. †— William J. Cummings, Exxon-Mobil company spokesman, December 2005[45] “ It is pretty clear that there is not much chance of finding any significant quantity of new cheap oil. Any new or unconventional oil is going to be expensive. †— Lord Ron Oxburgh, a former chairman of Shell, October 2008[46] but thats irrelevant. oil destroys us. i.e. the gulf, air ,climate change etc. ( which is real btw)

oh,sorry, p.s. again. nasa used hydrogen to launch shuttles. honda actually manufacted a hydrogen car. but all american autos have bailed on this technology, as it has too many technical issues and likely will never be of any use. they also emit carbon, ha, go figure.

just my 2 cents. the price of oil is based on a global market. very little the u.s. does has any effect on it.( the us has less than 2% of the world crude oil supply) the price of gasoline is decided by the local market. taxes etc. the current cost of gas is not a supply related issue. you can look that for yourself if you like. oil is indeed a finite resource and will be used up. also consumption is greatly increasing. there is a myth in america that we have some magic oil fields in whats called shale oil. yes, we have massive oil fields. but this kind of oil is expensive and impractical to extract. (the middle east has crude oil, easy to tap)it would behoove us as a nation to invest in other forms of energy before we actually run out, or someone else turns off the tap. raising the price of gas through taxes is one way to stimulate research, but would be political suicide and no one has the guts to do it. you cant compare the sand oil of alberta to shale oil. two different things. those who shout drill baby drill dont understand that just because someone drills off our coast, doesnt mean the oil belongs to us. for example. bp stands for british petroleum. the oil drilled from the gulf does not automatically "belong" to us. like the cars built in detroit do not "belong" to us. as a nation america has to invest in long term renewable energy. but we have never demonstrated the will or courage to do so and will likely wait untill we are at crisis level to think about doing anything. which is how we manage most things. crisis management. we simply move from crisis to crisis without any thought for tommorow. p.s. we actually get most of our oil from canada.

i just finished this thing. um..what a piece of ###### the kit was. nothing fit. the rims didnt fit in the plastic wheel, the axles didnt fit into the rims, the way the whole underside is designed makes it very hard to assemble. i did get it together but it was more an excercise in frustration than fun. no way any kid 12 years old would get it together. i have the lil mixer on order, hope its not the same way. any tips on how to fix the axles are too big for these rims thing in case my lil mixer is the same way?
