  1. Nice job, looks great! I have also built an AWB from the Polar Lights kit. Looking for a match race? WF
  2. The front wheels came from Altered States . They come with tires but they were unusable. I had to "stretch" some vinyl tires by boiling them! I dipped them in boiling water while they were installed on a dowel equal to the diameter of the rims. After their "dip" I hit them with cold water. WF
  3. Can't see much of the underside but a great pic nonetheless. WF
  4. According to the 1967 NHRA rulebook: "Exhaust system must be equal to factory equipment per h.p. claimed. Dual exhaust pipes, with mufflers are permitted. Headers are also accepted, but exhaust must be routed through mufflers and tail pipes. All mufflers must be production type and installed in the stock location with tail pipes extending at least to the rear axle. The main body of any replacement muffler must be at least 19" in length. Open by-passes may be used, but must be installed in front of the muffler and installed in such a manner as to direct exhaust away from the strip, tires, and car body. Outlets for open exhaust cannot exceed 3.5" in diameter. A maximum of two (2) outlets per car permitted. No flexible pipe permitted on any car in competition." A lot of words but I hope that it answers your question! I'm fairly certain that in 1968 an exhaust system was not required. Walter

  6. Superb! My kind of race car! Walter Frey
  7. O.K., For "period correct", we need to know "what period?" In other words give us the year(s) that this car existed. WF
  8. That is a great looking....ummm...... don't wanna offend anybody.........'25 T! (yeah, thats it). From someone who knows chopped '25 Ts! Walter Frey
  9. That is actually a great looking Altered! I came really close to buying one of those at the last NNL East. After seeing yours, I'm kicking myself for not getting one! There is always next year! Walter Frey
  10. Great looking gasser! Good use of color. Walter Frey

  12. I certainly hope that none of those tribbles* were hurt in the filming of that 'cuda! Seriously, though, very nice, clean build. Walt Frey * yes that was a Star Trek reference.
  13. I started on one of those yesterday. I forgot how finicky they can be. You did a superb job on yours! Walter
  14. First of all, thanks for the pics! I believe, that if you have the passion for the subject, you will build a great model. You do, and you did! Welcome aboard! Walter Frey
  15. Nice! All of those extra details, like the hood pins, tire valves, parachute cable, and hood scoop make it extra special Walter Frey
  16. Both of those Willys are great! I have one of those kits. Now I have to drag it out. You've inspired me to build the truck version!

  18. Here are some early pics:http://public.fotki.com/announcerguy/twister/ WF
  19. Body work just about complete. Mock up from last April. Mission accomplished! It took a while, but its done. Details: Two Hemi Under Glass bodies needed to stretch the nose Rear wheel openings moved forward "Miss Deal" chassis pan, engine, & drivetrain Tamiya Metallic Green paint with Tamiya Lime highlights Alclad window trim (looks much better than foil IMO) Aftermarket Parts: Driver's door handle Blower belt and pullys Seat belt hardware Wrinkle wall slicks Walter Frey (The Altered Wheelbase Guy)
  20. Uwe, you are truly one of the best muscle car builders out there! Beautiful job! Walter Frey P.S. One minor technical point. The power brake booster hose should run from the booster to a fitting on the #8 intake manifold runner behind the carb., not to the breather. Maybe I shouldn't point that out, but now you can make it perfect!
  21. Wow! Kinda looks like my collection! Just goes to show that great minds think (and build) alike! Walter Frey
  22. Len, if you are a stickler for accuracy, those AMT (Once upon a time MPC) 'cudas are '69 models. The factory Hemi cars were all '68s. Nothing a file and some bondo can't fix! Walter Frey
  23. That red looks fine to me! So does the rest of the Grumpmobile. Very nice! Walter Frey
