  1. same makers. the AWD chassis is a tad bit longer.
  2. Now i remember why i stoped on this project. this project was my first time making modifications to a chassis and doing something over the top. its a pain! lol but im determined to finish this. LEFT IS THE FWD CELICA CHASSIS AND TO THE RIGHT IS THE AWD CELICA CHASSIS. the last time i worked on it, i was using the awd chassis. thinking the body would just fit perfect and i wont have any issues with clearance. but i was wrong. the motor is too tall and i wouldnt been able to close the hood down properly. also, i had to shorten the chassis. thats when i gave up on it. lol. well, now since im back on the project, i decided to use the fwd chassis. in order for the hood to go down i had to shorten the height of the motor and cutting some of the transmission from the fwd chassis. i also have to remove the gas tank for the awd system to fit, and build a fire wall. feels like this is more work but will be easier on me. will post pics soon. Joel
  3. the last time i touched this was back in 2007. just been busy with school and work back then. now since im getting back in model cars and want to enter in the Chatsworth NNL, i want to finish this. my wife and i both drive toyota celicas and ive always wanted to fix up my real car but it just cost too much to do what i want to do with it. so im building a celica of my dreams. ill be working on this at the same time as my el camino build. will keep u guys updated. Joel
  4. I'll be there. hopefully ill have my el camino and toyota celica ready before the show
  5. Done gluing the Chavelle Tranny and the ZR1 motor together. here's the interior pics. using the zr1 interior for my build. I need to focus on one section at a time. i keep on bouncing around from one section to another. LOL
  6. Thanks for the info. will be working on my elcamino tonight. here's a pic of my el camino, with the wheels ill be using (going to paint it metalic grey). hope you guys will it.
  7. Hi all, Was wondering whats a good non-permanent glue so i can just pre-fit parts?
  8. Thom Hoos, Sent you an email
  9. Hey Chris, that's a clean El Camino you got. Love the color. I was looking at the JF website and it looks like it doesn't come with it no more http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/onlinestore/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=212
  10. Thanks for the input guys, im going to use the transmission and bell housing off the chavelle. i notice that the chevelle housing and transmission is connected to the motor. do i just cut off the motor off of it to use it? was thinking of just using the whole motor and trans but the motor on the chevelle is a lil' bigger than the zr1
  11. WOW, that's lots of pics! I wish i was there but was with family
  12. Hi every1, Im using the JF El camino kit plus two other kits two build it; AMT 72' chavelle and a Revell corvette zr1. my plan is using the zr1 motor and transmission. my biggest concern is the transmission since the zr1 transmission is in the rear. also a concern is the drive shaft. the zr1 drive shaft sits higher than others. I will post pics once im out of the office. but should i just use the zr1 motor and use a different transmission or go all out with the rear transmission? Thanks Joel
  13. LoL. Im planning on doing th same (corvette motor). I'll keep you guys posted.
  14. Hi All, this is my first time working with a resin kit. I chose the El Camino because it was the first car I grew up liking. so now I'm building one of my own (would like to own a full scale one. lol). I've done my research about this kit, but it hit me that resin kits take time to make them look perfect. With the kit, I'm going make it a resto mod. Question, was the kit suppose to come with a hood? I know i have to use a 72' chavelle to finish it off, but i thought it comes with a hood. Looking forward to post more and looking at others' projects. Joel
