  1. Thanks guys,

I had a feeling she would hit me where it hurts most. I saved my stash first because it was easier than packing each built car up for storage. 20/20 hind sight I would have been better off just throwing them into boxes un-protected. At least I would still have them.

Woman can become extremely vengfull during a divorce. Believe me they go for anything they know will hurt you. I am sure there are some men out there that would do the same but from the stories I have heard it is standard for the women to get revenge. I didn't do anything I shouldn't have done, I just wanted out because it was a very bad scene. (Long story)

Regardless, she didn't get the best of me and I am happy to be away from her. I don't think anyone gets into a relationship knowing that the other would do something like this.

Now I build many kits and have great memories of the first, second, or third time I built them in the past.

Moral of the story is, never let them get you down. I loved this hobby long before I met my ex-wife and will love the hobby for the rest of my life. To that I say "I do!"

  2. Man sorry to hear about loosing your model collection, I have a wife that would do that to mine if we got to that point in our relationship, she has destroyed some builds on my work bench before so i know its in her if it got to that point so I feel for you bad. I can see it happening and really feel for you.

Hang in there and just get back into it and keep your head up........................................

Thanks, I managed to get my stash out of the house and into a storage unit so it wasn' t a complete loss. I wish I had done the same with my built kits but just didn't get around to it.

It is amazing that you can't trust the person you married. In my case it was 20 years!

  3. I build because I like to. I don't care what other people think of the cars. I haven't been in a club for at

least 10 years. I like hanging around with other modelers, but where I live you can't get anybody together

    for a club anymore.

I build because I want to!

Wow, that is a very cool display. It actually brings a tear to my eye. My finished model collection was destroyed during divorce. Along with many other things.

  4. I allllmost traded my 69 for a super clean, garage kept GN but the guy ended up trading it for a Nova. I'd give anything for a GNX!!!!!!!!!

They were really underated back in their day. Everyone was Mustang and Camaro hungry then and thought there was no way a V6 could out power a V8. I wish I had sprung for the one I drove that day. I had a 79 Cutlass to trade in which wouldn't have given me to much on a trade. The GN wasn't new but it had minimal miles on it. May have been a demo car or something like that. Cool think was the salesman told me to tromp on her to get the true feel of the car.

    Who am I to argue?

  5. look on Youtube at all the Buick Grand Nationals with a turbo V6 just tearing up everything in sight! My buddy and I were riding around in his 9 second 66 Chevelle and we had a white Grand National (may have been a T type?) leave us like were in third gear, reverse! For big sedan like that, they're pretty darn impressive!!!!!!!!!!

I took one of them for a test drive back in 1987 and wow was I impressed. I was glad it had head rests in it otherwise my head would have been in the back seat.

  6. This all reminds me of a trip to the race track several years ago with my Mopar buddy. Cuda vs Camaro are at the line and my buddy turns to me and says watch this Cuda kick this Chevy's butt. Me being more partial to the Camaro I defended it's honour and supported Chevy's cause. Lights change and off the Camaro goes down the track. I turn and look for the Cuda and it is sitting at the starting line with the drive shaft laying on the ground.

I said to my buddy "Holy ######, you were right! That Cuda was so fast it is already back at the starting line."

We both had a good laugh that day.

  7. Bored by the subject matter? Or bored by the kit itself.

If the subject matter bores me, I never let that stop me having fun with the kit.

Not a fan of '57 Chevys or Novas, but I still had a blast on both of these things.

    Those are awesome!

I can't say I ever got bored with a build. I guess it is because I buy only what I am interested in. I have been frustrated to no end at times. Some of those kits met a very nasty ending.

  8. i didn't get caught up worrying about what exact year the van was or how accurately it replicated any particular year, it was a fun build that was also something simple. i built it to have something to haul around whatever i feel like tossing up on the trailer, currently it's in the display case with a Dart stock car

Your van reminds of an old nieghbour of mine. He had one darn near exact to that.

    Nice job!

I haven't started on the chevy van or trailer yet. Been working on the JJ Vega. I am really surprised at the flash on this kit. The front clip fits like ###### and needs lots of sanding.

I thought this was a new kit, not a re-pop.

Thanks Ed for the tips on the van.

  9. I have the Paasche VL which I use for painting larger surfaces like car bodies and interiors. I have an Iwata Eclipse HP CS for more detailed work.

The Paasche VL comes with 3 different needles and tips that allow you to go from very fine for detail to heavier for bodies etc. It is a great brush that isn't to expensive. It should serve you for many years.

As for a compressor, I just grabbed a 3 gallon unit from my local auto supply store. It was on sale for $69.00 and it does the job fine. You may want to get a water trap to prevent small droplets of water in you paint caused by the compressor.
