  1. Sorry I posted before I took a good look at the pic. Looks like the late 70's, early/mid 80's style based on the pic. Sorry I've just been wanting a new style w900 for a while.
  2. Hey everyone I haven't done a update in a while, but then again I haven't got a lot more done since the last update. I got the body work done on the cab, sanded, primed and painted. also did the hood and front fenders. I got the interior finished and put in the cab, but I have no good photos of the interior. Its just basic gloss black like the original truck. I should have taken a little more time with the body filler on the cab I'm not happy with the results. The paint job turned out really good the pics. don't due justice to the finish even though I wave not waxed it yet. I have got it my tubing for the exhaust I just need to figure out how to hang it.
  3. Thanks for all the reply's I hope to come home with something tomorrow, or I just order off the net. David I am going to try the candle trick especially on some working truck models.
  4. I see a lot of people on here use aluminum tubing for straight pipes, but where do you get it from? I tried the local hobby lobby Micheal's and Hobby town, they had no idea on where to get some from. Can I get it from like a Lowes or Depot? And if so what dept is it in, Thanks.
  5. This truck is going to be massive. Also J.T. I am going to steal the way you made the breathers, its such an innovative way to do that. I am an honest thief I tell you first.
  6. Hey guys, I know that its been a while since I did an update on the progress of Project 350 but I have gotten a few more things done. First I trimmed the rear frame. The rear light panel sat back to much for me so I cut off about 1/4" of the rear frame, and it made such a big improvement. I also painted the fuel tanks, axle hubs, grill, rear fenders, and cat walk. I am going to start on the interior next, but its going to be really easy. Looking at the interior shots of the truck, Richie blacked out everything. Black gauges, bezels, seats, everything. I did decide to use the traditional rectangle Pete headlights, I have a round set from the Revel Kenworth kit but I haven't decided what I going to do with that kit yet. Anyway here are some new pics. shortened rear frame the painting of some of the parts. From left to right painted with clear, next wet-sanded with 1000 grit, then 1 coat of wax, then 1 coat of polish. pic of the grill (I did do some touch up work around the light buckets after the pic was taken) some pics of the parts on the truck but they are not glued down. You can see the tanks in these pics. I have also started to shave the cab lights and horns as you can see in the last pic.
  7. Your doing a great job William. You are also doing a good job with the bare metal foil, a lot better than I can do.
  8. I got a little more done on the truck. I made the rear light plate and a rear cover for the frame rails but after doing this I realized I need to cut off the rear frame rails to pull it in so its more like the 1:1. this evening if anyone is interested I will post how I made the fenders.
  9. Thanks guys, when I started this project I didn't realize how long it was going to be. I will post some more pics as I get a little further. I'm thinking of cutting open the doors, but I have never done that before.
  10. Hey everyone being a fan of show rigs, and having driven one for a few years I decided to do a model of Richard Acosta's truck called Project 350. Photos of the real truck can seen at http://www.gotwheelbase.com . and yes it does have a 350" wheelbase. these are some shots of the mock-up. I will post more as I get further.
  11. Got a little more done tonight, painted the chassis and started to do some of the detail work. Got the headers and starter on the engine. Also put together the rear and rims and tires to try to do a moc-up. This kit is so tight that I can't do a moc-up, which is going to make altering the front height very hard to do. I can see a few things that I want to change like the fender wells, and the air cleaner. I can't see Foose using the traditional round factory air cleaner. I will post pics of progress soon.
  12. Nice job. The purple is awesome.
  13. Kc you are right the next pics that I take I will try the macro setting thanks. Tool, and Cranks thanks for watching any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. I did not know the pics had to be downloaded until I was looking at the site not signed in so I got a Photobucket and here are the pics again. sorry for the first pic being so big my wife had to show me how to re size in photobucket.
  14. Some pics of the start of the engine the instructions call for the engine to be Chrysler engine red but as far as I know hemis only came orange. I painted the water pump, intake and heads aluminum (I think that Foose would use aftermarket intake, heads and water pump) and the balancer black. I left the oil filter orange so it looks like a Fram. sorry for the blurriness but the camera is smarter than the user.
  15. Here are some pics. of the box.
  16. Hey everyone I just bought this kit and am starting to put it together. This is my first model in 13 years. I will post pics. later but I have noticed that revel has a lot of the colors way off. Also there is only 1 pic on the box of the car assembled and by that pic the front end will have to come down. I don't know yet just how detailed I will go on the car after all I'm just getting back into the hobby. I am building the kit the way that I think that Foose would have built the car.
  17. Great job Rod, love the detail under the hood including the fender tag.
