  1. great candy apple paint
  2. Great work. This vehicle is a diorama unto itself. Great attention to detail. Do you do dioramas? If so, would love to see some of your work posted in the dio section.
  3. Thx, Al. Coffe cup was pretty simple. Styrene tubing sanded on the top to round it off. Handle is brass wire covered with modeling clay. Fishing pole is one item purchased as is. got it at Hobby Lobby in the doll house section. BTW, i've lost my distributor for the flathead. If anyone has one they would sell, i would like to buy one. Thx,
  4. Thx for the comments. Bill, i've admired your work for many years. I didn't scratchbuild the tools, but did paint, alclad or modify each one of them in some way. Did build the workbench and seat. Looking for soft, red leather for the seat. Next pics will be of washer and dryer. This will be a dio of my garage at home.
  5. I don't think i've posted this on here before. If i have, my apologies. This is a 1/8 scale dio I'm working on. 'Course in 1/8 you havde to scratchbuild a lot.
  6. Looks like a great start. Here's what i did witht he same kit. It's Murph's Texaco. Murphy S. Law, Proprietor. Where anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I didn't do very well on my walls. Looking forward to seeing yours.
  7. Great idea. LIke a shadow box without the shadow. Great work on the dio, also.
  8. Ryan, the tarp is made by cutting a piece of tissue paper to the size you want. Then soak it in a 50/50 mix of white glue and water. drape it the way you want it to appear, let dry and paint. Properly painted it will have the appreance of canvas. Thx for the comments.
  9. Here is my small scale dio. I think it's 1/35th.
  10. As all have said, they are all great. Guess that's one of the reasons that the Duece is an icon. You can do sooooo many different things with it.
  11. I see Project "PBL" has moved from that other forum to this one. Great work, Mike.
  12. Terrible spelling. Sorry. Typing on my laptop in the dark. The Lincoln welder is scratchbuilt using a 4 cylinder continental engine from a Willys jeep. Seat was scratchbuilt. Upholstery is material from an old t-shirt.
  13. Here are a couple more pics. (i hope) the rust was done by painting the car with Kryloon red oxide primer. After it dired, i sprinkled on baking soda. Then paint with the flat black. After that dires i rub the model with an old tooth brush and the black comes off where the baking soda was. There is normally a guy welding on top of the car, but he's in a differrent dio right now.
  14. For example. This dio started because i had a new wooden toilet seat that i wasn't going to use. So, why not make it a dio base. And, dwhat kind of dio would go on it. An outhouse of course. And the strory is, there will be some teenage kids in the old gtruck pulling over the outhouse with Grandpas still in it. Working on the figures now. That's how this story developed.
  15. My diorama building starts with the storty or idea. What story do i want to tell and how can i best tell it. Do i want humor. Is it interactive? Then i figure out what i need in the scene to tell the story. For esample, on Easy as 1-2-3 i specifically wanted to show a progression of the rebuild of an old 32 Ford and the best way todo it was with 3 small bases.
  16. my first diorama was a military dio. i purchased the 2.5 ton truck and there were instructions for a dio in the instruction sheet, so i built one. First automotive dio was the 1/20 scale John Player special with figures form Tamiya. Colors of the uniforms were totally wrong as i didn't research at all.
  17. I guess i like anything that has lots of action. I try to make my dioramas interactive. Get the viewer involved in the scene.
  18. Here's what i did. Not necessarily accurate, but maybe it will give you some ideas.
  19. Don't think i've posted this one on this site. If i have, i apologize for the repetition. There are numerous safety violations in this one.
  20. Since i specilize in auto dioramas, i'm thinnking of doing a combined train/slot layout. Anyone done that. Have any pics?
  21. With lots of help from several of you, I think i've got this pic thing figured out. many thx. This is a 3 part dio. Guy finds an old 32, then in shop with it, and finally at a rod run with re-done rod.
  22. i gotcha. Thx bigtruck. Let's try this one.
  23. Awesome dio. Loads of detail. Imaginatvie. Love the soap box derby car.
  24. Thx, Dawg. Like it says "what can go wrong..etc." Trying last time.
