I love the realistic yellow/orange halo around the edges of the rust. I assume this is an effect of the product itself. Was this applied over the paint?

Wow! this caught me totally by surprise.
At first, I must confess that I was suppressing a gag reflex. My brain was screaming "WRONG-WRONG-WRONG!". But now that I see your skillful blending of the body work; I actually like it. It reminds me of some of the futuristic cars from comic books of the 50's and 60's.
I have seen the light! model on!

That's an impressive amount of detail for 1:72 scale.

About 2/3 down the page there's a couple interior shots. Unfortunately, Photo-toilet has done their best to obliterate the pic (which, honestly, wasn't very good to begin with), but I think you can still get a general idea from it.

For those who build old beaters, I'd like to chime in with a technique I picked up from Ken Hamilton. To depict worn out carpeting (or carpeted floor mats), start with a piece of emery cloth and scrape off most of the abrasive, so that the cloth backing starts to show through. I'll try to find a photo to illustrate the results - very convincing.

I believe those are also the ingredients for a 7-Eleven hot dog ?
Not sure about the hot dog, but I'm pretty sure that's the exact recipe for the filling in Ho-Hos.

Hey Johann!
Thanks for the nod, and now I'm curious; Why did you choose that color? I'll be working on it more this weekend (I hope).
I was wanting kind of a sleeper hot rod look, so I chose something that I thought wasn't going to be too flashy, but in the end it wound up looking very classy in that color.

You might be surprised by what is available in 1:20 scale. At any rate, I'm looking forward to watching this come together.
-
It's interesting that we both chose the same color for this car. It just looks right.
I'm anxiously watching to see how the rest develops.

Regarding the bench; as long as you have enough space to set down your coffee cup, you're good to go.
As for the first Lotus to use the engine as a stressed member, I believe it was the type 25, but I have no idea whether someone else might have beaten them to it. Maybe B.R.M.?

So, is it your plan to restore them in the vein of the original build style or are you planning to rebuild in your own style ( or some combination thereof)?
That corvette is giving me ideas.

Steve Boute (I'm pretty sure I've misspelled his name) uses this technique to make tuck and roll upholstery. As a "positive" for the mold, he uses half round Plastruct rod. He makes it in large sheets then cuts out the various shapes for the panels he's upholstering.

I think you've already answered your own question.

I have two Revell 67 chevelles and three 70's purchased just for the tubs and rear tires.
I've also bought the 50 ford f1 just for the Ardun heads, and a 70 Torino for the 409.

Beautiful work! I particularly like the stone foundation on the station house. Care to share your technique?

I had the whole collection at one time. I sold all but one to an enthusiastic ten year old for 50 cents each, and I'm fairly certain he built all of them that weekend.
-
I'm not really into fire trucks either, but these are so cool I want to build one now.
-
I would love to get hold of those CAD files.

Looking good! the new yellow for the engine details looks spot on (on my monitor, at least).
Are the cheater slicks out back as they came out of the box, or did you modify them?
-
Excellent job. This is one of the cleanest stock builds of this model that I have seen. I'm particularly impressed with the window gaskets; they look completely authentic.

I am truly saddened by the loss of such a kindred spirit. I never met this giant of a man in person, but was privileged to exchange views through private messages and books through the mail. We've all felt his absence throughout his illness, but it is a sobering thought to realize that he won't be coming back. As has been said already: We are all richer for having known him, and poorer for having lost him. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
Goodbye, Harry.

The engine is Hunter Green, Krylon I think.
Thanks.

I like everything about this, from the simplicity of the subject to the very clean execution. Just the right amount of shine to the paint, too.
By the way, what color did you use for the engine? It looks spot-on.

Hmm. For some reason, I can't get the link to show up. Sorry.

Thanks Jay. This beats my technique hands down.
