  1. Here is an outstanding Silicone RTV. Easy to use, 1:1 mix and sets up in an hour. The mold life with this still is the longest I've ever worked with! http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1439.l2649 I found this stuff by accident on Ebay and have been using it ever since. I know that not everyone uses Ebay but for the amount of Rubber that you get with this stuff and it's quality, it can't be beat!!!!
  2. Stick to the traditional stuff Larry and please use a silicone or platinum-based RTV. You'll have better results. Take it from somebody that's been around this stuff for about 25 years.
  3. Especially me Gray, used to own a 64 Econoline Panel.
  4. I've collected around 100 photos of the 65-66 Chevy Vans. Just need a set of blueprints/line drawings and some chassis shots to get the project underway. Good drawings of any early van are like finding the old needle in a haystack!
  5. Wow Guys, thanks a million for the links and shots! They are a really big help. I have the Flintstone conversion and compared it to lots of Dodge pics and some things just don't click like the front windshield curves, front vents under the windshield, rear door windows and the roof is way off. Must be getting anal retentive in my old age. So, what I'm going to do is make an all-new resin conversion to start or maybe an all-new resin kit. Depends on the availability of the Lindberg base kit's availability. Next up is a 65 Chevy van!
  6. No problem, just wondering if anyone had a decent pic somewhere of the real 1:1 Van roof. My OCD is kicking in again!
  7. Would anyone know what the roof of these things looks like. Trying to build a new van out of the "Bill Mavericks" Dodge truck kit and am missing shots of the roof top. Tried the Flintstone resin one but decided to just go ahead and make a new body.
  8. Thanks Guys, it's always nice to see how other people do things and learn something in the process. I'm casting up some of those wide M/T's myself and the skinny ones, too.
  9. Recently I saw a thread that mentioned how to cast seamless tires. Does anyone know where this thread is? I'm always interested in new ways of doing things and am doing some tire molding/casting myself.
  10. Ah yes, the power of pressure and vacuum casting!
  11. No pet peeves here, just enjoying the Hobby like so many others do. If a person is happy just building a Model out of the box, then why not show it off, regardless of whether or not it is missing something. If they want to improve on a kit or make the necessary "corrections" then ask fellow Modelers here what they could do for the next project. Me, personally, when I'm working on something I will scour the internet, read books or view projects of others to get the necessary references to build a certain model with all the accurate "Bells and Whistles". Right now, this is a necessity due to the Resin items I am currently Mastering. A suggestion in this area would be to start a permanent "How-To" thread to show beginning Modelers how to add these missing things using plastic scraps or common items found in their own household or maybe the local electronics or hardware store. There are so many cheaper ways of doing things, especially for those on a tight budget.
  12. One other suggestion if you do Ebay. There are a couple of excellent lower cost products sold there by a few different companies. For resins, try Composi-Cast sold by a guy named Stan and for RTV, try Illuse-Effects rubber. I used to use Smooth-On products but dropped them like a Hot Potato after finding these!
