Scale I Build

  1. Hey Guys. I have been quite of late on the forums as I have been trying to wrap a range of vintage truck kits. With the first of those finally nearing completion I am looking at restarting another range of kits I was working on up until late last year before the truck kits took over my time. Anyway here is what I am looking at producing. These will loosely be based on sixties style 26-34 hot rods with various period correct features such as diamond tuft roof inserts, bullet head lights and tail lights, finned drums, two piece whitewall slicks and quick change rears. Most kits will be limited to just 30 of each body style with a couple limited to just 15 for each body style. The closed bodies will have separate roof inserts to make them easier to paint and also to display the interiors. All will run as channelled open wheeled styles with all the parts bar the engine being included. All kits will also have detailed instructions and each casting will be individually numbered. Here is what I am planning on producing. FORD 1926/27 Model T Coupe "Chopped", Roadster, Roadster Pickup. 1928/29 Model A Five Window Coupe, Sports Coupe, Tudor. 1930/31 Model A Pickup, Roadster Pickup, Roadster, Stock height Coupe, Sports Coupe. 1932 Pickup "Chopped", Roadster Pickup, 5 Window Chopped, Cabriolet, Sports Coupe, Sports Coupe "Chopped", Roadster with Duvall V Wind shield and Carson style top 1934 3 Window Coupe, 3 Window Coupe "Chopped", Cabriolet. PONTIAC 1932 5 Window Coupe, 5 Window Coupe "Chopped" CHEVROLET 1932 5 Window Coupe, 5 Window Coupe "Chopped" Pickup. DODGE 1933 Pickup, Coupe, Roadster, Tudor. So far the closest ones to being completed are the 26-27 T Coupe and Roadster, 28-29 Tudor, 30/31 Pickup, 32 Chopped Pickup and Roadster Pickups and 34 3 Window Coupes and Cabriolet. Of all these the T Coupe and A Tudor are the closest to being moulded. I am looking at producing the kits in correct order of years starting with the Model Ts. I will have photos of the T Coupe once I have cast up the prototype. Unfortunately I can't give a timeframe for completion of the first kits but feel free to shoot me a pm if you want to know how they are progressing. All feedback welcome ! I
  2. Hey Guys. This has been an on again off again project for the last year or so, lately more on than off. I originally put this up on the forum last year but decided to not continue with the thread. There were a number of reasons for stopping and one was that I was not happy with how it looked and I was more focussed on other projects. Over the last couple of months I have been putting more time into it where I can. What makes this build such a challenge is the amount of scratch building involved. As well as the chassis and hood and grill insert, the floor has been scratch built. Other parts that will be scratch built include the dash and gauges. Parts from four different kits have gone into this project so far. The rear fenders, grill shell and windscreen frame are from the Revell 32 Ford. The cab itself is made up from three different kits, the lower part of the doors came from the AMT 34 five window coupe, the upper half is made up from the MPC switchers 32 tudor and the rear cab is from a resin 34 cab. The front fenders are from the same MPC 32 switchers kit. The pick up bed and floor are from the Revell Monogram 37 Ford Pickup. All of these parts have been extensively modified to fit. When it comes to engines there is really only one choice of power plant in a Mopar and its a certainly not a small block Chev, its got to be a Hemi. I have quite few to choose from but I have opted for the Red Ram from the AMT 29 Model A Roadster for the simple fact that it the nicest of all the Hemi designs in my opinion. I won't be running the ugly supercharger, opting instead for an old school Hillborn injection. The front end will be the dropped I beam in the image and the rear end will be a nine inch with a Halibrand style quick change rear. The housing for the diff is scratch built as well. The I beam came out of the Revell 40 Ford coupe with the spring coming from the Lindberg 34 Pickup. You might just be able to see the chassis in the background, that has been totally scratch built as well, its still to be finished.
  3. Hey Guys. This is something I have been working on for several months now. It was mastered from the Revell 1:25 scale 1932 Ford Chassis. Once complete, this will fit under any of the 1:25 scale Revell 32 Ford kits. Most of the construction is complete, I just have to add the rear spreader bar and concentrate on the surface finish, which will take considerably longer due to a broken wrist.
