This was built for an online club build off. No in-progress shots were allowed to be posted anywhere so this is the first time this has gotten posted. It was a four month build off and it was way too short for me. I let some things slide I would not have ordinarily done.
This the AMT '65 Continental. I utilized the custom front and rear ends and the bed part for the station wagon custom option.
The rear seat has a real cloth blanket with a printed pattern. The board rack, dash and bed are real wood. The boards are resin. The paint is Model master and Testors lacquers. My paint break is not crisp and is my biggest issue. But I was in no mood to repaint a third time with time ticking away. No more build offs for me. The engine is the 312 y-block from the AMT '57 Fairlane with a parts box intake. The scoop is an AMT '69 Cougar part, with a custom insert. The surf boards are painted by dipping them into enamel paint sprayed on top of water, with several coats of Future to shine 'em up.
Although the picture doesn't show it well (yay me!) one of the tail lights is broken. If anyone has an extra, please drop me a line.
As usual all comments, criticisms and snappy banter are kindly welcome.
