M1008 CUCV Complete
cjanderson posted a topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Finished the M1008. Probably things I could have done better, but will consider this a pilot build for fiture ones. Hopefully can get diorama it's going to be on all done before the show in Detroit this weekend. There were some challenges, but for most part, not too bad. I think it turned out alright and hopefully the recipient will enjoy it. Thanks for all the support. I almost forgot the push bar. That was all scratch built and took up a good chunk of my time -
Back story: I am currently (and have been for some time) with the 127th Security Forces unit (Michigan Air Guard) located at Selfridge Field in MI. I will usually tend to make a truck (plastic kit or die cast) for retiring members of one of our patrol units, to have for their bookshelf. One cat that I was close with and retired a few years ago called me out because he didn't want a Silverado or Ford super duty. He wanted a M1008! Well, I think everyone here knows that those don't exist in 1/25 scale, sold as a proper kit. I know there is a 1/35 one that costs more than my grocery bill at times, and I have searched for some time for a regular kit. Well, no bueno. So I couldn't pass up the challenge. So I'm going to use the MPC Deserter and 75 snap tite chevy blazer and see where it takes me.

This is my current kitmash project in 1/25. This is a pre-CUCV and pre-MILCOT of a U.S. NAVY '55 Chevy Step Side Task Force Second Series. The prototype pics are from my dad's film footage when he was enlisted. The iSheets indicate location for these exhaust parts, but there are no holes for the pins. I had to drill hole at 1/16" through the top side of the chassis frame part. thanks for looking.... build continues...
