Hi all, with summer winding down, and fall upon us here in the Pacific Northwest, it’s time to get a bit more active at the hobby desk. I’ve been missing my forum friends! First, a bit of back story on the inspiration for this build. When I started my ‘70 Cadillac pro touring build in Jan of ‘23, I did some online searches for inspiration. One of our fellow members here, Russell Cook, (“Russell C”) shared a web address with me on the WIP thread. Well, down the rabbit hole ?️ I went, for several hours. Thank you Russell, I got soooo many ideas, which led to more searches, more rabbit holes….. ?️ ?️ ?️ A screen shot of that fateful exchange. A couple of screen shots from the rabbit holes… I knew I definitely needed to build something like this, but I wasn’t EXACTLY sure where to start. I had no shortage of ideas, just needed to figure out a starting point. Jump ahead to our local model show in early spring 2024. Local model builder Martin Aveyard brought his incredible MR2 cyber punk car. Martin, as most of you will know is on the forum here (“Stoke”), and has also been a regular contributor to the magazine. If you have not seen Martin’s models, take some time and check out his builds, they are nothing short of extraordinary. His photography is absolutely stunning too. I asked Martin for a little guidance on chassis ideas, and he was more than happy to point me in right direction. As there was a swap meet at the show, I left with kits and a new thirst to build one of these beasts. THANK YOU MARTIN!! Here are a couple of photos of Martin’s incredible MR2, currently in the under glass section. If you haven’t already done so, check it out!! So, before I go any further… my build will NOT be nearly the work of art that Martin has created, but the overall look will be similar…(ish). I wouldn’t dare compare my builds to Martin’s. With all that said, here is what I am starting with. I picked up a few endurance cars at the swap meet. Some were missing tires, or decals, etc. and were cheap, which was perfect for my project. I decided on using the Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9 kit as the chassis. I have never even looked at these types of models before, so should be interesting. I had so many different ideas for bodies, from trucks, to muscle cars, you name it, I probably considered it. While digging in the stash for a suitable donor, I stumbled upon a small bag of red styrene bits. What you see in the next photo is all that’s left of an original issue Dodge Daytona. Thankfully, it’s about all I need!?? So… I will leave it there for now, and stop babbling. The styrene dust has flying at my hobby desk, and I have made some reasonable progress with this build, so I will add some updates soon. Lots of modifications, and scratch building on this one… Thanks for having a look, and as always, all comments welcome. I’ve got some catching up to do on the forum here, you folks have been busy! used the 41 ford woody front on a 48 ford convert kit, another 41 ford woody front put on resin maranga body with 48 ford custom side panels, maranga front on a 40 ford convert kit

built like crazy in 2017, but havent felt it this year. so decided to pull out some bigger kits recently. 1/8th lets see were it goes.

really got into my 1/8 truck conversions from the big deuce kits first half of the year, then didnt feel it as much, for me, the rest of year. thanx for looking

this is a resin from frontier, put 64 dodge chassie under it along with the motor (maverick kit)

38 coupster (i didnt like the look of this body at all, top to small) with amt 40 sedan rear grafted. front of vantastic put on 40 ford pickup. sedan is other part of vantastic on 36 ford

used part of a second body on a built kit i got for parts. i cant remember what i used for the yellow rear, may be trunk of the 30 cabriolet glue bomb i cut to make a pickup years ago
