johnbuzzed Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) Not having enough works in progress, I decided to start on this '29 Ford to bring to Atlanta this year. I've been working on it in fits and starts, getting what seems to be a lot done one day, then nothing for a few days. The four cans of paint will be applied to different surfaces of the body and interior. The bench is a mess, but as my wife would say, it's an "organized mess". ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// The engine and transmission are from one of the Revell Deuce kits, the rear is from a Revell '98 Ford pickup- right now, the rear suspension is my hang-up. There will be no wires or plumbing or linkages on this one, but there should be enough other eye candy to keep one's interest. I hope it turns out the way I see it in my head. Ramfins59 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Hey John...... Since some of us know how strange your head can be...... It should be interesting to see how this turns out...LOL.
johnbuzzed Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Thanks, Rich. Have fun at the NNL, and please give my regards to all.
johnbuzzed Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 ">http:// ">http://http://s889.photobucket.com/user/jbuzz710/media/1929%20Ford%20alloy/CAM00399.jpg.html'> Cleaned up the bench a bit and did a little paint detailing last night. The air filter needs a heavy wash of dull, dark red to simulate a K&N filter. Comments and critiques are welcome.
johnbuzzed Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Did some work on the chassis. Airbags for the rear end, motor mounts for the 5.0, disks all around. ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// I still have to work out the air bag mounts on the axle and a transmission mount. You do NOT want to see the top of that transmission case; it has been... "lightened" substantially to fit in the relatively small space, and the bottom of the floorpan has been significantly massaged. The brakes are from an aftermarket source whom I don't remember; that kit includes the brakes and tuner-appropriate wheels and tires. The rear is from a Mopar kit. Edited April 20, 2015 by johnbuzzed
johnbuzzed Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Looks like a fun project, nice start. Thanks, Jonathan. This was (and is) supposed to be a strictly fun build, but that supposition went a little astray. But I am making progress and should have a couple more pictures in a day or two.
misterNNL Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I notrice an empty wine glass in one of those photos. Is that for inspiration or are you thinking that a nice deep wine color paint might look really nice on those '29 fenders ?
johnbuzzed Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 The wine is purely for Inspiration and relaxation. I'm sticking with non-organic colors for this one- Tamiya Light Gunmetal for the sheetmetal, Testors Graphite Dust for the soft skin areas and Titanium Metalizer for the framework. I plan on using carbon-fiber decal material in lieu of the wood panels. Tom, I am honored that you're interested in my posts. Thank you. You're one of my first modeling "heros". .
johnbuzzed Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Got a little more done yesterday. A major problem was the firewall and floorboard; the engine seemed to fit initially, but once I added the transmission mount, things changed. Ergo, a portion of the firewall was removed and a replacement piece fabricated from sheet styrene. That's one of the rear wheels; they will be Metalized (possibly Titanium, to match the framework on the body). The brakes are from an XS kit; I gave them a coat of Tamiya Smoke and added some "Wilwood" decals (after the pictures). The transmission mount is strip styrene. On that small strip of Slixx decal material are some Dzus fasteners that will be used on the hood. The radiator is the kit piece; I fabricated an electric fan from a kit fan, some styrene strip and a piece of frying pan splatter shield- the same material will be used for the grille. Comments, criticism, etc, are welcome. Thanks for looking. ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// ">http://http://s889.photobucket.com/user/jbuzz710/media/1929%20Ford%20alloy/CAM00438.jpg.html'>
