fun9c1 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I'm starting to build the Lindberg '53 Ford Victoria for my Dad, which I plan to surprise him with. This was his first car which he bought in 1960 in good shape from his favorite uncle. It was Sheridon Blue over Sungate Ivory. The blue seems to be available, but I am having a heck of a time finding any Sungate Ivory, which is weird because they must have laid down zillions of gallons of that back in the day. Anyone know of a source? TIA, Rob
chunkypeanutbutter Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 NAPA custom mixes paint in rattlecans if you have the paint code. Other people have said Cub Cadet cream is close.
modelercarl Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Model Car world has aerosol can #2681 which is an exact match and air-brush #5232 Sungate Ivory in 1 oz. bottles.
Eshaver Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Sherwin Williams was canning that for N A P A as Peanut Beige . I have a 53 Ford Panel delivery and yes , I am in the early V-8 club too

fun9c1 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks for all the replies. One of those ought to work! Mike, I had seen that site before and emailed him about ordering paint but never heard back. Had you ordered anything from him?

Mike, I had seen that site before and emailed him about ordering paint but never heard back. Had you ordered anything from him? Hey Rob, I have a lot of his paints. They laid down super smooth. I build a 53 Ford Country Squire wagon using his paints. Weird thing is, he didn't have Sungate Ivory at all. All the rest of the colors, yes but not that one. I mixed a few paints until I got a shade I liked but its not as light as I would have wanted. But then again mine was only for trim. If you do get a hold of him, order plenty of paints. You wont be disappointed.

Had you ordered anything from him? No, I used white primer for the top and clearcoated it- it's not Sungate Ivory, but it's not bright white either.
