johnbuzzed Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 When installing rear shocks, is there a preferred way to orient the shocks? My brief research shows pictures with the fat part up, toward the body on some installations, and down, away from the body on others.
unclescott58 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Depends upon the car. Mounting varies on different vehicle. Scott
Greg Myers Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Fat part goes up. It's a shield for the piston inside. Mount it the other way round and it would soon fill with water and debris and fail. Edited May 8, 2015 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 and front shocks without the shields would be mounted differently.
Greg Myers Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 So the answer really depends on the application. Mounting ends are also different.
