Finally dusted off one of my Willys that have been on the shelf for many yrs.  What I noticed was that the tips of the headers

are all crusty.  I used a soldering tube and have no idea what this stuff is.  It's pretty hard stuff and not sure how to get this

crud off.  Any ideas ????  Thank you

Hi Bill,

These are some good looking Gassers.  The dusty ones are cool too, like a garage find!

The solder rods have probably leaked the flux that's inside of them.  I can't say though how to get rid of the mess, sorry.  I used solder rods for headers on a 33 Willys I built last year, I placed the rods in boiling water to get rid of the flux beforehand.  Do you think the crust can be scraped off with a scalpel blade?

Again, nice looking, cleanly built models.

Acid core solder. I found out the hard way never to use it again.

Willy's- DON'T use Acid-Core Solder for exhausts! [02].jpg

The Willy looks great dusted off. I would take some Mothers wheel cleaner and brush a little on a spot with paint brush. Mothers is not strong but i believe some wheel cleaner might help...
