Hi to all the Corvette fans,

I know I am a little behind the curve on happenings in the model world but I do like to keep up on Corvette models. Have any 2008 Corvette kits, snaps or promos (including pace cars) of any kind been oficially announced? The 2009 Corvette build (including the new ZR1) starts July 14. Where are the 2008 model kits?

David,

I haven't heard any announcements of new Corvette promos and on my last check of the website where I order from there was a note that he hadn't heard anything either. I did read somewhere that the company who distributed the promos had changed hands so that may be part of the problem and the Revell takeover by Hobbico may also be causing problems. I know that Hobbico recently reissued the snap C6 convertible and Z06 but they are not making them available in Canada so who knows what other strange things are happening.

Just got this note from an eBay promo vendor:

"MIC (the promo supplier) went out of business last December and now there is a new company, Ivy Promotions, that is in the process of procuring distribution rights from GM. Most all the paperwork is complete and now they are negotiating with Revell. At the most there will be three Corvette promos, one coupe-one convertible-one pace car. There may only be one or, possibly, none for 08. Knowing the tenacity of the management at Ivy, as long as they can get the advance orders (which was a problem for the 2007 Z06) they will build them. That's it in a nut shell and I'll have them as soon as they hit the ground. Thanks for asking!"

By the way, has anyone announced a 2009 Corvette ZR1 kit?

Thanks for the update on the promos.

I just started collecting a couple of the Pace cars that I liked. I'm hoping to see another pace car promo as well as the ZR-1, and I would definitely think that Revell will have some news for us in October concerning the ZR-1. I hope anyway.
