old-hermit Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I started another project. I haven't finished the last seven but I have fun starting them. It's a 1/8 scale, chopped, channeled, sectioned, Z'ed, '32 Deuce pick up. I mastered the body in the fall of '06 and just got around to casting it so I could build more. Here's a mock up and the stock body.
Raul_Perez Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I say both!! After all, that's what it takes to successfully customize models!!
Smart-Resins Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Al, I have always admired your work and have always though your builds to be genius! But only you could be insane enough for what you come up with. Will you be using your special straight 6 in it? Keep it up buddy.Jody
m408 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 32? I don't remember them being that boxie. Looks more like 29-30 to me. What am I missing?
Modelcarjedi Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i can't tell yet depends on how you finish it! weathered or shiny keith ross
old-hermit Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks guys, It does take a little of both. 32? I don't remember them being that boxie. Looks more like 29-30 to me. What am I missing? Here are a couple of 1/1 original 1932 pick ups i can't tell yet depends on how you finish it! weathered or shiny keith ross I'm leaning toward shiny Keith, I'll leave the rusty one to you. How bout like this one ?
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 If Ford was anything like Chevy they made two different tops. I had a 36 chevy pu that had a rounded top and they made one with boxier top. One had 2 hing doors and the later had 3 hinges.
m408 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 WOW, roof lines look nothing like the coupe. I guess I'm just used to the "box" look of the "T" and "A" series.
old-hermit Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 Here's an update on the pick up. I got some of it painted and got it on wheels. Heres a little teaser.

j_nigrelli Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 how do you "master" a body? do you have to scratchbuild one and then make a female mold? just the short version, please. i don't want to take you away from actually building. thanks, j
evilone Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I say both!! After all, that's what it takes to successfully customize models!! i agree with him as the saying says it takes a man to restore a ride but it takes a real man to cut up a ride ur the real man bro
old-hermit Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) how do you "master" a body? do you have to scratch build one and then make a female mold? Basically yes. I took a cowl and a 1/25 body for reference and made the pickup body with sheet styreen and bondo. Here's how I built the body, http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...0Scale/Wrecker/ Then with the help of a friend made the mold. Here's the mold, http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...cale/Z%20molds/ In this scale there is very little in the way of after market stuff so if you want something new you have to make it. old-hermit Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Got some more done on the pick up this week. Just about ready for final assembly and detail. I painted some pieces body color the dull coated them for contrast. And ya gotta have an antique glass door knob shifter. 2 X 2 intake with split exhaust manifold and dual pipes.
old-hermit Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 And a mock up just to see how the paint looked.
