Spaz Stix makes a gloss black for use under their chrome spray paint.  I've used it that way, never under anything else, but it might work for you.

Thanks Gerald...do you know if its an enamel?  (For those of you who don't know, Lacquer doesn't work as a basecoat for Alclad (according to the instructions and my own experience), it rubs off when handled).   Thanks for the suggestion...TIM .

That was not easy.  The can doesn't say what it is (other than listing the nasty ingredients).  The website doesn't even list the high gloss black as an aerosol (they do carry airbrush paint) or what type of paint their products are.  Amazon does identify it as a lacquer.
