Cpt Tuttle Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I've been looking at a lot of restored/modified Matchbox / HW cars lately. And since many of them are quite cool looking in all its smallness, I decided to try something similar myself. It felt most natural to start with a cheap one to see if it would be as fun as I thought. So, I got this very much played, but complete, example of a Vauxhall Victor estate. Old car from the 60s, but it seems like it is not so rare, so I won't be ruining anything I guess. Rivets drilled, car split into pieces....
cobraman Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I do that sometime also. Nice little side project.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Brake fluid took most of the paint off.I didn't like the peppermint green interior so I decided on burgundy instead.Primer on the body.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Except for the tailgate (which is in the brake fluid bath now), the paintjob turned out OK. Grey tyres is somewhat dorky looking, so I gave them some flat black, the same goes for the rims, since they aren't very realistic looking, they got some black to tone them down. Polished the windows with toothpaste, got a bit clearer, not like new but then the car is old too...
BubbaJoe Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 dip the window in future .. it will hide the scratches
cobraman Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Nice work, much better. Going to do another ?
