muddragger92 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I am needin help on makin the button on the steerin wheel for a trans brake. An how to coil the wire an get it to stay coiled. Not sure if there is a aftermarket one out there an I havent found it. Or some tips on how to make one would be great!!
snacktruck67 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I don't about the trans brake part, but if you want to coil your line, get a small piece of tubing or something small in diameter. Then just start wraping it around the tubing and make a coil as long as you want.
muddragger92 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Okay ill try tht. Thanks for the tip really appreciate it.
426-Hemi Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 He ----^Is right. I'd just find something small enough and coil a decent thin copper wire around it and make as much or as little as you want. THEN you remove it, pull either end, to make the length and size or distance between coils as you want.....Copper wire, if you go to Jo-Ann fabrics, or Micheal's they have 24 to 26 gauge BLACKENED necklace making wire, that is copper, but chemically coated black, that if you add a flat clear to it, will show up as a nice "wire" to almost anything, trans brake, trailer brake, CB lines, radio wiring, you name it.....Specially for things INSIDE the cab....Copper also holds its "shape" well too so tight or loose coils won't be an issue! Under the hood has a bit more into it, to get "the look". inside the cab, well you have a bit of obstruction to cover up anything not real "scale" where under the hood is right "in-your-face" out in the open..... (If that makes any sense)
muddragger92 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Thanks tht was a really good tip ill head up an get some of tht tomorrow. An any other tips would be great I have kinda been out of the modeling world for a few years do to makin my real mud truck an I was wantin to make a replica of my truck. So alot of the aftermarket stuff is unbelievable on wha you can do with a model.
astroracer Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Go to Jegs or Summit to get some pics of a trans brake switch. This is simple to make out of some scrap sprue or small diameter tubing. Here are a ton of reference pics from the Jegs site. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&Ntk=all&Jnar=0&itemPerPage=60&Ne=1%2B2%2B3%2B13%2B1147708&searchTerm=trans+brake+switches
