mackinac359 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Broch Welcome to the forum! You have a great start on the grain trailer. Tim
broch Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 Thanks Tim! I have been in contact with you a couple of times about the Redwood Construction logo for a logger... Just one think that I need some help with. Think I have done a BIG mistake on the underneith (?) of the trailer. I have now discovered that many of the Wilson Grain Hoppers don't have the bottom "floor" that I got between the hoppers. It's just open underneith the "sloaps". Just wondering if its posible to get them like I build them, or if I have to remove everything and start all over.... Hope someone can help me out here... (sorry about my english) pic:
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 What's goin' on... Several years ago I built a tri axle Tempte hopper. Yours is off to a good start! Keep posting your progress if at all possible?

Keep posting your progress if at all possible? I can post more pictures of the progress.... Have to descide what to do with the underneith of the trailer today... Hoped that someone here would help me out.. Do you got some pictures of your hopper? Would be realy nice to have a look at it
modeltruckshop Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 To me it looks too nice to risk taking apart. Call it artistic liscence and go with it hoping a Wilson expert never sees it. If it really eats at you than it could be removed with some careful cutting/scoring of the joints. The traiker looks great. What will be pulling it?
dptydawg Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 You've done a fine job on your grain hopper. I'm sure somewhere at sometime one was built with a floor insert. besides if you don't point it out, no one will know. I would leave it as is because it will add structural strength to the whole trailer. just my thoughts Carl
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 What's goin' on... I built mine " IDENTICAL " to how you're doing it. I used the old Fruehauf van trailer w/ the tri axle dump trailer suspension. I neglected some fine details. Back then for some reason I was in a hurry to finish a project. Don't ask me why??? I'll see about getting pictures of it soon. I rent a storeage unit and it's in here somewhere.
broch Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Thanks a lot for the great ansvers... I tried to take out the bottom of the trailer today, but as I was cutting and pulling, I quickly understud that a lot of pars was near cracking. So I have desided to leav it as it is. Otherwise I have to take it all apart and start at the beginning again. So just have to live with it. And its just as you are saying, the construction of the trailer is much better now. So today I have been working on the hopper and traps... Need to make it to close and open... Need to buy some new evergreen profiles tomorrow. (The shopes are colesed over here now ) Working on the front and rear panel at this moment... Have som other prosjects that are going to be paintet this weekend also. Will post some more pictures of other prosjects also the next days. Hope everyone understand my english here. Not easy to write it when you not use it daily. Don't have any problem understandig you then Semi Trailer Mechanic: See you got a Pearless logger... That on my wishlist at this time.. They get a little expencive on Ebay for a student But one day.. one day....
Old Albion Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Great Looking Project!! Certainly something different. A grain hopper has just been added to my to do list!! Keep us posted on progress and don't worry about the floor it looks great!
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 What's goin' on... I made it to the storeage unit and took some pics of my scratchbuilt hopper trailer. I built this about five years ago for a contest if I remember right so it went togather fast and it never saw that show. I've thought about rebuilding it but that's as far as that idea got!
tooltime-fan Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 great project keep us posted, can't wait to see more pictures
