HotRodaSaurus Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Hi, I have never used this or any kind of polish other than good old Amway Silicon Glaze, then buffed up a shine I'm happy with, but seeing the positive posts about these floor polishes I would like a bit of info please; What kind of polish is it? a paste, liquid, paint and how applied please. Is it that kind that they polish hospital vinyl floors with using a rotary buffer? I know Future polish is probably not available in the UK but I would like to try to find something similar. Thanks, John
935k3 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 In the UK it is known as Johnson's Klear. Here is a useful link that explains it all. Future
Clay Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Here is some work with Future. It also can be used as an undercoating before you paint.
Tom Kren Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I have to give this stuff a try! I found the new bottle and didnt think it was the same yesterday now back to the store!
MrObsessive Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've been using it particularly when I found out that Revell (and to an extent RC2) were using cheaper grade plastic than in previous years. Especially when the production moved to China did the problem with plastic crazing occur. As Clay mentioned--------I've used Future right on the bare plastic before any primering and I've not had a single instance of crazing as I've used some pretty hot automotive stuff to paint the following models .................. Here's what our bottle looked like here in the States.............although I hear it's been changed a bit---I've had this stuff for awhile!
Lownslow Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 i cant get no gloss out of that stuff been using it as a undercoat since
Clay Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Here's what our bottle looked like here in the States.............although I hear it's been changed a bit---I've had this stuff for awhile! Still the same bottle Bill, I got mine about a month or 2 ago.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Just to simplify things... Future is nothing more than clear acrylic. It's not a wax or a polish, but simply clear acrylic. You can apply it to your model with a wide, soft brush. Future is "self-leveling", that is, it dries without brush marks. You can also airbrush it on (straight from the bottle, no thinning necessary). Cleanup of the airbrush is simply with plain old H2O (that's water to you non chemists!) It's simple, basic, inexpensive...and it works. Great stuff.

Future Thanks for the link and all the other comments, I'm off to the supermarket for some Johnsons right now, might have to buy a kit to practice on A bonus from the link was how to colour clear parts as I have a Tamiya Lotus 49 Graham Hill 1/12 kit. This has a yellow tinted screen and I did wonder how best to achive this finish. Thanks, John
