MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Hi you all, I have afew projects on the bench right now but I'm having fun though. Well this model project I'm building is for a friend of mine. It's a 1/16 General Lee replica I'm building. It's not series correct at all. I am having alot of fun on it and in a way so to speak this is one of my favorites builds yet. I have some stuff to correct on this kit though. I'm going to correct the chassis on it, Correct the firewall, build a engine bay for it, make my own hardware for on it (bolts ect ect) and my own cb antenna, my own cb unit. Basically my own general Lee items that I make. I will be building a correct factory 1969 Charger interior for in it as well including the dash and the seats. As for the body shell, well I'm doing a lot of body work on it to get it into ship shape. I scribe the lines deeper as well and will be adding detail to the shell. Here is some photos to get this thread started. Hope you enjoy and comments toward the project is always welcome.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Well take care of the trim issue as well Here I was scribbing out the drip rail molding
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Dang molding machine LOL Filling/building up a sink area here with superglue lock tight
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 getting ready to primer the spot so I can see it better I did almost get the driver side rear skin sanded and done and also got photos of that to upload yet.
crowe-t Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Jim, I'll be following this build closely! I'm curious how you will make the factory 69 Charger seats. I have one of these kits that I plan on making some improvements on to build it closer to factory stock. I'm not sure I'll get rid of the NASCAR front suspension but do plan on building an engine bay. BTW, will you be fixing the front fender openings to make it appear like a stock 69 Charger? What tires will you be using? The tires in this kit are very large.Mike. MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Hi Mike, working on this project is fun and I really enjoy it as well. I kinda have an idea on the front seats and rear seat but just haven't gotten to that stage yet. But any suggestions is always welcome for a back up plan around me. As for the front wheel wells, yea I will be fixing those things as well to make the shell look like a stock 69 Charger. I will be using the kit tires and rims on the project, might have to do slight work on the tires.
crowe-t Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Sounds good Jim! What color will you be painting the body?
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Well I was requested by my friend to get 75 Flame Orange. I think I have some here already, but if I'm out, I'm hoping my local NAPA or Auto Parts store has it in spray can form.
every second counts Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I cant believe the detail you are doing, awesome. Is this the original kit or the repop? Just asking as i have both to build someday.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 This is the reissued kit, but it seems to me there is more sink marks in this one then what was in the original. Also thanks for the nice comment.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 Well after a week, I think it's safe to say the driver side is looking good, had to add the body lines to it. But still got some little details to do yet before it's all done. Got the wheel well housing in the front also taken care of too. Got photos that I will get posted in a little here.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Okay, I have quite afew photos to share here. I scribe in the trim alittle deeper here Here I tarted to fill in the sink mark area with superglue locktight Here is afew sanding

MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 One line down, many more to go Moving on to the rest of the body lines
MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Now lets talk about those incorrect front fender wheels on this big beast working on the wheel well opening plus body lines at the same time
MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Starting to fix the fender.. yes I used superglue

MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Ok heres some photos from last week yet that I didn't get posted. I'll let the phones do the talking, any questions about the project or suggestions are welcome.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 I'm doing something alittle different here on the door handles. All comments towards the build is always welcome.
LaughingIndian Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Nice bodywork Jim. What did you scribe the lines with?
MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Nice bodywork Jim. What did you scribe the lines with? Thanks Mike, I used the back edge of the excto blade #11. The scribe line looks way better in person then what they do in the photos
