mistermodel Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I've been working on one for a couple days.I've built lots of the old amt,but this has got to be the worst one in terms of flash, and miss aligned molds. Just getting the differentials lined up was a massive chalange.I know they can be built nice and from looking at some build ups I notice the exhaust, intake and the rad give people issues.I think I'll need to mock up the stacks, with supports, intake pipes with air cleaner, and turbo and intake manifold all at one to get every thing lined up.I could see this kit discouraging a beginner so bad it would go in the trash
kilrathy10 Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 No question.....It is a tough kit, but at the time of it's issue and reissue, for that matter, it was the least expensive of the two manufacturers of this kit I know of.....I think only Revell and AMT/Matchbox made versions of this one.....The Revell being the better and more expensive of the two....I think that's why there are skill levels set up, now....You definitely need some skill to put it together.....Fledgling modelers BEWARE.....
Force Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 The AMT KW K123 is an old kit originally from around 1971 so it for sure has it's issues, AMT also did a K100 Aerodyne about 10 years later wich is better. The Revell AG KW K100 kits are more recent kits of newer K100's and they did both a Flat Top and Aerodyne and they originally came out in the early to mid 80's.One thing I allways do is cut of the locating pins so I can line up the edges on two part pieces better.
