Bullitt Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I am about to start a 32 Ford 5 window coupe. The kit comes with plain & louvered hood panels and trunk. As the louvres are too small to open, I was wondering if after painting, a black wash would fill in the louvres and make them look like they are open. Just wondering if anyone has tried this, or if there are any other suggestions. Thanks
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Here's a thought. I've been experimenting on doing some bare-metal-look louvered parts, and I've had pretty decent results by shooting the louvered part with black primer, then shooting the finish coat from the side of the part away from the part of the louver that should be open. It takes some fiddling and finessing, and you really have to shoot the black dead smooth to make it work.
Bullitt Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Sounds like it may work. If not, just another repaint.
