My boss just gave me a complete unstarted Monogram 1/8 65 Corvette kit from the 80s.

Where is good place to get wheels and tires for a kit this size?

I am looking for Torque Thrusts and just a little bit wider tire than what comes in the kit.

Shapeways may have some....(might cost a couple $) or you can widen them your self with plastic tubing....of course that means you have to cut them up and splice them back together....I havent done it personally but I have seen it done on here in smaller scales.  I have widened tires before and that wasnt to hard as long as your cut is straight they should go back together pretty easy and if you cut them where there is a lip/step in the wheel you will be less likely to see the seam.

You can always check other 1/8th scale kits also...I know the T buckets have some wider wheels...model swap meets and even asking on the forum here under parts wanted might turn up something also  It has worked for me when I messed something up or it was missing.

Good luck.   I have been searching for awhile, with a little success. A forum member named astroracer said he could machine wheels and he gave me a reasonable price (which I wont repeat without his consent, just message him), along with the suggestions above. Tires are another story. Most big scale guys make their own. You can get about any tire you want 3d printed. If you want top notch wheels (machined aluminum) and custom tire sizes (3D printed) itll cost close to $600. I am saving for the 1/8 iroc, and plan to do this, later. I have dropped back to 1/16 and 1/12 scales. Much cheaper, more parts, and big enough that I can see the parts.

I looked for quite some time & finally settled on rubber rc tires for my coupe.  2.2 for the rear & 1.9 for the front.  The quality is outstanding.  Perfect minatures...even have the big tire smell.

What are you doing for Wheels?

Thanks guys. I built 4 or 5 1/8 scale kits back when I was a kid. Never built this one though.

The wheels and tires in the kit are ridiculously too skinny. and ugly too.

I will keep watch on eBay. The good year Eagles from the 78 Corvette or 82 IROC kit are the tires I want and I may have to get some of the American Racing rear wheels from the Big T kit or something. My son is in college and has access to a 3D printer so we may make some wheels as a side project.
