Hobbylinc has two of these kits with different part numbers.

What's the difference between AMT '56 Chevy Nomad kit 1005 and 1005-06?

The 1005-06 is less money than the 1005, wonder why?

Same question about all the other kits with an extra number on the end.

Been wondering about these AMT part numbers for a long time.

Thanks!

Bob,..it could be one of the kits offered in 2 different colors and options, like the 65 Gran Prix...I will look into it this afternoon and get back to you......best, the Ace,,,,,;)

Bob, I agree with Ace. The different numbers have to be either "molded in white" vs. "molded in color", or different versions with more parts and different box art.

I believe the "-06" suffix refers to the case quantity for a particular kit.  I've seen their 1/25 scale kits numbered with a "-12" suffix on Round2 paperwork..

Molded-color variations typically have sequential part numbers   The aqua '65 Grand Prix is AMT991 and the white is AMT990. (cases would be AMT991-12 and AMT990-2)

It doesn't answer your question re a supplier listing the two numbers with different prices though.

That may be something weird about HobbyLinc.  I noticed the same thing recently on a 1/35 kit, the MENG ZSU-23-4 Shilka.  Showing the exact same box art, the kit number was showing as "TS-023" for one listing, but "TS-23" on the other.  And one was priced higher than the other.  I thought it was strange, but it sounds like you've found something similar.

Thanks for all the responses!

About the only thing I know is Lindberg does the same thing.

The might be production runs so they can keep track of sales.

Still a mystery at Hobbylinc, $30 or $38 for the same kit.

At one time part numbers without the suffix were older kits that

had been sitting on those shelves for a long time, like 7 or 8 years.

There are some of those kits still being offered for sale.Funny business the model business!

Don't think things worked that way in the boom years, 50's and 60's.

Thanks!
