Home made distributors

I see a lot of home made distributors on the cars here. They look like they are made from Aluminum tubing. If so, I am wondering on the diameters of the 2 sizes of tubing used, and if not, what material is being used.

I cheat and buy after market distributors. But there are many here who drill out the kits plastic distributor and glue wires in place and others that have used small diameter tubing for the distributor drive shafts and a second larger diameter for the distributor head and cap.
